FINALLY!!
My system is finally upgraded! I added 72 square feet of dynomat, a JL Audio 500/1, JL Audio 10w7, and a JL Audio remote bass control. I already have an iPod with tape deck interface. Doesn't look like a whole lot, but it sounds great
First, I must say that this system BOOMS. When I told folks I was getting the 500/1 and 10w7, people would raise there eyebrows and say that the boom would be insane. I was fairly skeptical. Well no longer! I can't believe how much bass this thing cranks out. Justice's and Drew's box is great for this sub (I had them build 1.2 cubic feet box). My installer said he was very impressed with the customer box, and said he would of charged me $700 bucks for it (I paid less than half for it).
Pros:
-Great clean look. I still keep my spare tired (my GF screamed at me when I said I wanted to take it out
)
- LOUD. When the installer told me he consistenly puts 8w7s in SUVs, I now know why.
- no rattle - the dynomat did the trick. No rattle at all - not even the metal license plate.
Cons -
- put simply, I MUST upgrade the components. The bose can't cut it. Unfortunately, the bass is so much, it just overpowers the mids and highs. I'm going to have to get another amp and components to get good sound quality.
- cost - I spent a little too much. I'm happy, and I feel it was worth it - but man this set-up was expensive
- to much bass? I need to tinker with the settings. Certain songs are just insane. I listen to mostly hip-hop, and sometimes I feel like the car is going to explode lol
One thing I noticed is my ipod seems to sound better than CDs now. I think its because the bass is slighly muted with the ipod - whereas the CDs just rock the house. I have much tuning to do.
Many thanks to:
- the folks on this forum who gave me advise
- Justice and Drew - AWESOME box - thanks
- Speakerlabs in Seattle - Dana has like 25 years of install experience

Congrats on the new system. I have the same problem with not enough mids and highs now too=) My only complaint is that I still have yet to hear a 10w7 in our box (no extra w7's laying around you know). Glad everything worked out how you wanted it.

Woohoo! Thanks Dawg! Glad you like it. BTW, for those enquiring minds who want to know, we mounted the sub further forward on the box so we could still "twist it" and point it toward the front. . .and believe me, with the massive magnet the w7 has, it had to have a LOT of room! Thus, the more forward mount. Conrats again, Nate. Don't blow your trunk open! (Or your eardrums!)

Very nice! Great job on the box, Drewer & JustICE
Now you just need the 300/4 and some speakers.
Do you hear me?

that's very clean!
just a thought thou, was there any reason why you choose the passenger side instead of driver side? I would've picked the other, since the tools are now under your sub...

I wanted to see the woofer move when I have my seat down
.
The box is fairly easy to take out and move. A dream would be a 10w7 on each side, but that would just be insane (and incredibly damaging to my bank account)
