crossover mounting location

what's the best place to mount a crossover into the door for component speakers? is it right next to the woofer? I see pics occasionally when doing sporadic surfing of this site, but my intentional searches have been fruitless for pictures I ask because a friend and I were outside drilling holes and such, mounting all the lovely hardware i got from Cadence today, and when putting the door panel back on, realzied it didn't fit -_-" we're both moderately sick but I have no sound in my car right now and drive ~150-200 miles a day ._.

if it doesn't fit in the doors, why don't you just route the the xovers to the trunk?

I found a place to mount them ... I'll post pics later, I just locked my @#^! keys in the car and had to shell out a buckfiddy to have the door pump-wedged and the lock opened ... curse me and my half-asleep idiocy.

take the door panel and try to mount them in the pocket

ideally you would want to mount them close to the speaker but its ok to mount them in the trunk

Mine are towards the rear of the door about level with the arm rest. I shaved a little bit of the foam on the inside.

You definitely don't want to wire your crossovers for the doors in the trunk. That would be a lot of wire and a pain.

There should be a rectangular indent (pocket) at the bottom rear corner of the door where they can be screwed directly to the door. At least in the Sedan there is.

Where to put crossovers...

I am looking to do the same with my '03 Sedan. I pulled up the carpet on the driver's side and found a long recessed piece of styrofoam. I figure I can cut that and put the crossover in the recess of the floor board. I'll double wrap it in plastic and cover it with a hard material to play it safe. The passenger side is the same but more narrow (asimetric floor boards ?). If your crossovers are no more than 3 to 4 inches wide - they should fit. Good luck.
