Honestly, either one is great. Both have their benefits so you can't go wrong.

I had the 9500ix for a while and just recently sold it b/c my car has been sitting at home, and my friend has the v1. I can say that the v1 is good, but the arrows aren't a huge selling point over the escort. The escort beeps depending on the signal strength and you can tell that the signal is getting weaker or stronger depending on if you are approaching a cop or leaving one behind, so the arrows do the same thing basically. The v1 is also much noisier than the 9500 b/c it doesn't have gps to block out false signals. Unless you plan on turning your detector off in the city and only use it on the highway, I'd suggest getting the 9500ix or I think a belkin or something makes one with gps which is basically the same as the escort. Either way, they are good radar detectors, it's preference if you want noisy and arrows, or quiet and a woman telling you what radar and redlight cameras you are near

v1 all the way, only thing i would add is gps to block out some signals. the arrows are amazing and its beeps get louder as well so you can tell what is a cop and its approach.

I still rock a 8500 x50, works fine

if its a straight road, I can get a K or Ka radar from 1 mile. My best is almost 2 miles.

and yes, I do look at my odometer....

i have both the 8500 x50 and the v1. i wouldn't trade arrows for gps false reduction. i find that the arrows help me locate a radar source more quickly.
