Pioneer AVH-p4200dvd Installed w/pics

Ok guys, after a year of contemplating whether to do the DD upgrade or not, here it finally is. I love it, sound is amazing, people already giving me compliment. I gave them a pioneer PAC swi-ps to installed, but it was broken(bought it off ebay) so now I'm running with no steering control and it kind of sucks. I'm hoping to buy a new one and install that on.

Yeah I know the sub doesn't look as great without a 4080 enclosure, but it's all I can afford at this time. The sub is AWESOME!

They didn't install my scorsche trim ring because I didn't need it, it fit just perfectly and they have to leave a big gap on the bottom so the HU can move out and in for CDs and SD cards. And also the HU can be angled so thats why the gap is there, at first I was pretty annoyed, but I'm getting used to it.

For some reason, that top cover is really loose now, and I have no idea how to make it steady again. I can pull it off with one finger, I used to couldnt even pull it with two hands

I will update more later, I am late for work!

The top has a round nub on either side that fits into a circular hole in the large U shaped piece underneath.

Take it out, make sure the nubs are still there (if they aren't make you installer buy you a new top piece) and line them up. If you push the U "arms" outward, it'll make it easier to get the top piece all the way in to clip into the holes.

I have it, they didn't install because they said I didn't need it, the sides don't bother me that much because you can barely see it, but the bottom. The guy told me that the gap was needed so when HU can angle out the monitor(to insert DVDs, SD cards etc). The cover on top, did you mean these very small plastic things on both ends. I see holes on both sides but it doesn't seem like I can angle the cover so the plastic things can fit in the hole.

love everything but the subwoofer enclosure, but at least you know it looks hideous lol. sucks about the PAC Swips thing, I was planning on buying one off eBay too, but now I might reconsider.

Yeah the enclosure isn't bad, but I do feel it a little bit heavier. I'm about to order a new steering wheel control off ebay but this time a new one instead of a used one.

Oh true, I didn't know you bought used. Maybe there's hope for eBay yet.

Cool I was looking into getting this unit, Can you get the colors to match pretty good?
Post some good clear night shots if possible with illumination.

Also some good clear shots of the gaps * from sides / front etc * if you don't mind of course.

I am a stickler for a nice OEM looking setup, Gaps would really annoy me if I found out later
I could of got a diff unit that fits better. Im debating between the p4200 - 7" or the stationary
p3200 with the smaller 5.8" screen. Other than screen size the specs are almost the same.

Do you have this powering the stock speakers ? And if so did the sound improve over the stock unit?

Sound is amazing, I do have stock speakers and my friends jumped into my car right after the installation and said..did you update your speakers? I had a non-bose setup so I didn't run into any troubles with the amp and output like some people did with bose. I think it was the way the installer installed it, that's why there is the gap. I never knew i had overly compulsive disorder until I saw the gap, you can't see it at night, but it being there bugs me. The guy told me he left it open so my monitor can slide out and in without getting too close to the shift ****(Let's be honest, its an aftermarket HU, not everything is going to measure up like stock). However, I see people on the forum that has no gaps and they have the p4100. The sides doesn't really have gaps, unless you really look hard I am thinking going back and tell them to fix it. The color matches pretty good, obviously you can see the difference after a while but at first I was like oh snap, looks exactly like stock.

I was going to go with the p3200 also, but I realize it would be way too small and you will see too much of the trim ring if you install it.

Glad to also hear sound quality improves a little ( until I can get components + AMP )

So I wanted to update a little on my double din, if you saw the pictures on this post a little earlier ago, there was a huge gap, but today I finally had some time to revisit the shop that helped me with the installation and they filled in the gap with a trim they made out of ABS plastic. Looks way better and best of all, it was free
