Trunk vibration

Just curious what you guys have done to eliminate trunk vibration after adding an additional sub in the trunk....I can hear it from inside and it is annoying as all hell. Didn't know if you guys knew any tricks besides dynamat. In my trailblazer I just added some additional weatherstripping but can't seem to pin point all the vibration points in the G.

Deadener, minimally-expanding foam in voids in the trunk, making sure the rubber trunk stoppers are extended to put slight pressure on the closed trunk...

My trunk doesn't rattle at all with a 10w6v2 with 500watts RMS going to it, for deadening, I used CLD tiles from www.sounddeadenershowdown.com on just the trunk lid, and will likely be doing more just to help keep sound quality up even more.

So as far as the foam goes you literrally just spray it into the void holes? Then cut the excess off after it hardens?

Yeah, but there's stuff that expands a lot, and stuff that doesn't. If you use the minimal expansion stuff, just go slowly and you won't have any mess that you have to cut off.

old thread but relevant to me .. just installed a 10" Type R and a 1000w JL audio amp .. trunk rattles decently .. ordered the second skin damplifier pro trunk kit .. I kind of want to do this foam thing before the kit comes so that I can really assure MOST if not all of the rattling is gone .. is there any chance of this foam melting and oozing into my trunk ?? there was a thread about a sedan guy getting this junk all inside his taillights, how do I prevent this ??

finally .. aside from the foam and second skin .. I want to silicone certain parts, weatherstrip around the trunk, deaden the license plate and put some foam tape and deadener throughout my rear deck shelf area .. would this be sufficient enough to help with the rattling or should I do anything else ?? while the deck shelf is off I plan to second skin around the back speakers and bose 6x9s as well .. ideas ?? thanks

its preety hard to eliminate all rattles.

The trick is to only apply the foam/deaden/silicone in the places that rattle.

You can apply it all over your floor board and trunk but I find it better to only treat the trouble spots.

No, the foam doesn't melt.

Minimally expanding foam and using sparingly (like blazeplacid says) will keep it from getting where it shouldn't be.

Instead of silicone, try using extruded butyl rope that you can get from www.sounddeadenershowdown.com - it's much more versatile, easier to work with, and longer lasting.

thanks a lot for the reply .. I already started with the silicone but I'm going to look into the butyl rope as well .. I have the second skin trunk package coming and I plan on deadening the rear deck shelf as well (looks like a bitch to get at it but worth it to me)

real quick question too .. I was thinking of taking the rear spoiler off and making there there is enough foam tape/deadener between the spoiler and the trunk .. would this be worth it ?? I wanted to do the same for the taillights as well
