One more question - so I want to run the purple/white wire from the deck to that purple one in the pic, as well as the power for the cam, correct?

 

Correct but you can use purple in the trunk, at the reverse light... for me it was a darker purple you can test to see which one triggers the light with a friend or don't turn the car on but put it in gear.

 

Okay cool. Can you tell me how I use the multimeter to test it?

 

Put the positive on the reverse wire black to ground (purple in the back hopefully it's the same) when car is off or not in reverse you will get no signal no volts. Turn the car to acc and in reverse with the parking break on and if u want extra security bricks under the wheels... Check the same wire you should read 12volts.

 

Word. That much I figured but what setting do I use on the meter?

 

Sorry man, it's just the 20volt dc. Yo are just testing volts are there so regular setting not ohms.

That's the 4400 not the 8400. That's a fair price for the 4400.

 

Also I wanted to update that I got the backup cam installed and working, but I'm not happy with the placement yet so I'll post pics when I get it straight.

 

just bought a Pioneer avh-p8400bh does it come with built in navi or do i have to hook up an apple device?

 

It comes with built-in support for Maps via the AppRadio app. You need the CD-IU201S to take advantage of this. This is mentioned in post #4 of this thread...

 

So if I buy the CD-IU201S and hook up an ipod tether to my android phone I can receive Pandora radio,Maps and AppRadio?

 

Probably not. The cable just allows you to play video from your phone on the 8400 screen. Unless tethering your android phone would display the video of your Android on the iPod this will not work.
You do still have Bluetooth support, however this is for audio only.
