so my 12" fits...or keep this 10" i just bought

If you saw my earlier thread I thought I wouldn't be able to fit my Type R 12" ive had for the past 6 years. So I went ahead and bought a brand new 10" Type S which is now on par with the old Type R's RMS albeit smaller size and magnet

decided to take the packing peanuts and check the volume of my mold....my 12" box was .75 if I can remember and the peanuts filled the mold with more to spare. So now im trying to decide to keep my 12 or stay with the 10

Ive never had a 10 so not sure how it will sound. Thoughts?

went a little too far on the left, will have to trim that way back

Is that enough space for the 12 inch sub.. meaning the air volume needed for the 12 inch to function correctly?

I actually have more room than my sealed box I had it in earlier....doesn't look like it but the packing peanuts don't lie!

optimum sealed enclosure is .57 to 1.0 cu. ft.

that R is a one note wonder in that small of a sealed box.

Those belong in ported enclosures.

The new type s S is decent and better than the older type r's..use the S

i had that Type R in a .75 sq ft sealed box which is the optimal size and it sounded great. this fiberglass mold is actually a tad bit bigger, sure it will sound just as good. probably keep the 12

damn, just realized i can no longer get this amp for a dual 2ohm sub

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALPINE-MRX-M...item3ccd07e8ef

that will only give 300rms not 500

should have bought the dual 4ohm

I guess we all have different definitions of "great"

I just plugged the R into winisd

It's flat from 80hz down to around 47hz then it drops down rapidly.

By 30hz, you're down 20db in output.

The S in the same box is a little better with it dropping off around 38hz, but with cabin gain, it'll get you down into the lower 30's.

Ported, they're both completely dff animals
