I just got a reply from infinitiparts.net on my question about purchasing the factory Navi aftermarket.... and he said that I can buy the componets, but it's not a kit, meaning that I'd also have to buy some wire harnesses and controls for the head unit. He said he'd sell me a Navi component with one possible harness for $6400..... and that doesn't include labor or anything else he might have missed.... DAMN!!!!!
Infiniti sure has its mind SET on not letting us get one if we didn't get it with the car.....

 

I'd go aftermarket system like we've seen posted lately. They seem good looking a functional too. Saw one recently here for $1500 . The dealers' offer isn't good especially since the've probably not done anything like that before and where the heck would he get the info to retrofit. (There's nothing like that in the factory service manual). Judging by my experiences with dealers: not only would that be horrendously expensive it would also be a bloody nightmare. My Navi cost me $3400 CDN. and I'm very happy with it. But wouldn't want to pay any more, and wouldn't want to take the car apart to install. Just my humble opinion. Later.

do you think you could buy pioneer navi that playsdvds and might have extra imput spot for play station.take out just n avigation in glove replace it with new one.no more birdseye and toggle thingie but it would be 5-700 cheaper.could this work?

 

I ran into the same issue... I wanted to save $ when purchasing the G so I diddnt get it with Navi.. now i regret it and was stunned by the price to get it installed ... Have a friend of a friend that works at the local Infiniti dealership.. trying to get him to hook me up..

dyen: I was thinking about getting just the screen too, but if you think about it you need:
The screen, the buttons (to bring it up and down).. the morotized stuff that brings it up and down... this is just missing the processr/dvd player for the navi... and -- how much can that cost?

probably more, since you'd have to change the wiring on some of the stuffs inside..... the price he quoted me was for a package, though....

 

that was 6400 usd? sounds a bti outrageous to me, considering it only costs 2000usd as an option

 

I asked bout this issue tkman00. They said its easier to install NAVI on the line rather than at the dealer, hence the cost difference.... Redicilous if you ask me.
