I am running XR Components up front. The ZR will be hot, my only concern is clearance from the magnet in the door.

GYA - It's all going to be a matter of preference, Take a listen to a few different brands and see what you like. From what I have heard, the BOSE speakers aren't the culprit for the crappy sound. Supposedly, it's the amps that distort the quality. When I went to my audio shop, they mentioned this to me and I was shocked because I figured they would want to sell me speakers and an amp etc. They didn't say the speakers were great, they just said they were not bad and are capable of performing better with a cleaner amp!!

Diesel, have you actually seen the Bose speakers? You pay the premium you do for that system and you get paper woofers, to me, it is unacceptable.

GYA, there are plenty of great sounding speakers available. Go to a good stereo shop and audition a variety of speakers, preferably in a demo vehicle not in a 'board.' You will be the best judge of what sounds good or bad. Remember, you have to listen to the music after your system is installed, install the speakers that sound good to you. Good luck.

All I meant was they could sound better then they do with a cleaner, better amp. Don't get me wrong, you will never win a sound clarity contest, but you can make them sound a little better then using the stock Blose amps. This of course would be the budget way to go. Also, if you change just the speakers but still use the stock amps, I wouldn't expect too much of an improvement.

I totally understand where you are coming from though and agree that paper woofers stink but, ya get my point. I totally agree that for the extra money you pay, they hsould have given us better quality. They Infiniti looks at it, they will sell thousands of cars with the crap bose and only a handful (compared to the total they sell) people will find fault. Most common folk probably won't notice their stereo sounds like ****.

I really like my Diamond Audio Hex S600s (silk tweeter...I think they also come with aluminum tweeters) components. I listened to some MB Quart PCE and RCE series at a couple different shops and they sounded a little too bright for my tastes.

It seems like Focal gets recommended a lot too.

Hope this helps,
Thomas
