For a Bose Equipped car, I will need the NN03 Harness and the Scosche FAI-3A? Does ti just reduce the signal? What does the FAI-3A do. Seems the same wires simply go in and out.

Use prewire with Navtraffic

Reading this thread has made me nuts for this HU. One question though. Black, did you use the factory prewire to connect to the pioneer nav unit or did you have to run some more wire to the trunk? Thanks.

I'm not exactly sure about the technical aspect. I spoke to quite a few installers, and they all said this type of adapter is a must when retaining the factory Bose amp.

I can tell you that even with a "mediocre" interface adapter, there is a significant difference.

Im a little confused on what your asking...

This nav does not have any external components, its all built into one unit.

I noticed in your pics that you replaced the factory xm unit that is in the trunk with the pioneer nav traffic unit. I was just wondering if it connected to the prewire cable or did you have to run additional wires up to the HU. Thanks again.

Oh for the Pioneer XM tuner, I had to run all new wires from the HU to the trunk.

BlackonBlack,

I'm in the middle of my D1 install, and so far so good for my first time out. I've mocked everything up in the car and electrically I'm good. I'm stuck on two things though:

1. How did you get your head unit to line up just right in the opening? It's seems that I always tend to have the unit shifted up of down or too deep. Did you have to modify the factory bracket or the new double din trim piece at all?

2. Where did you tap into the speed sensor wire?

Thanks, it's been a long day but so far so good. I'm having fun, but ready to be done!

Thanks!

I caught the thread on the VSS wire so I'm good there... now it's just the fit. Any help would be appreciated, I can get kinda picky and I really want this too look as factory as possible.

Thanks!

Where did you get the trim piece? Did it come with the D1? My eclipse dd did not come with trim and I can not find a piece to even modify. Can you help? Thanks! GT

Sorry about jumping in for BlkonBlk...
FWIW, I went through that too.
The only way is to drill new mouting holes.

I blocked into place in the bracket & marked one hole on each side.
I then did a dry fit again using the one new hole then marked & drilled the others.

Bit of a PITA but the final OEM look is worth it.
