Connect the wires to something metal, probably not.

any pics of other screens of the display? Like... the radio, etc? I'm just curious, from all the threads i've been reading, almost everyone who has these displays do not have the factory nav. I have the nav but I also want this display for the other features it comes with. Now if I were to use it for the nav too, then I would have 2 navigations functioning at the same time.. would that be a problem? Do you guys have any threads of someone who installed it w/ the factory nav?

Dang how did i miss that? What is the default screen when you first turn on your car? Also, i'm assuming that the Xm traffic will only work if you have xm radio right? And last, I was told that by installing this, I would lose the voice from the stock navigation unless I add a speaker. But the voice nav from the avic should be functional right? So in essence, I could just use this rather than the factory nav?

Very nice

After reading this thread I am very impressed with the level of effort that went into this conversion and thread.
Once all the hardware is purchased what should I expect a high end stereo shop to charge me to install this on my 03 coupe without nav? I am thinking $500-600 in hillbilly bucks. I want to know what you thought about the number of man hours an experienced and good installer will need it spend on this?

I want the Pioneer, with XM, and Nav.

I would like to use a PS2 for a dvd/game player mounted in a stealthy location. (recommendations would be nice) I don't think I would need to be able to use it while moving I just figured it wouldn't be THAT much more expensive to get one installed at the same time and be able to say i have one. Any thoughts

A little of topic but, does anyone know how to get rid of the annoying updating traffic window that pops up all the time in navi mode?

if it has a component video output, you should be able to connect it.

This is amazing.
You've convinced me to get this setup except I have an 04.
So everything you need pretty much comes with the AVIC-D1
I need:
Double Din Finisher,
Double Din Bracket without Navigation
A/C Controller

The PAC system that works with the steering wheel controls...does it change the mode and power off and change tracks and stuff like it normally does on the factory Headunit? Where would I get this?
The Nissan 2 Prong Antenna I assume can be found at any nissan store.
Is there a part number for this prong antenna?

I also saw that you had some GEX-P910 thing ... what is that?

NAV/DVD setup

I've been reading all the threads and have some general questions, (im sure you've all heard these questions before). Im soon getting a 2005 G35coupe without the factory navigation system. I wanted to know, in order for me to do the doube din dash conversion do i need the factory nav system? if not how much would it cost to get the whole kit? and where? Sorry if my questions are repetitve but im new to the car forum and G35

NO you don't need the factory navigation to get this to work on your car...the "screen" is sold at your local car stereo retailer or on the net...the "Double DIN kit" is sold online (it comes from Japan), do a search for that, you'll find your answers.

After you have all the components, find a reputable car audio place and get it installed.

Edit: A simple search for key words goes a long way...cause you're the new guy I'll steer you in the right direction...
