I have had my avic-z1 installed for a little bit now and have never come across an issue with sunlight fading,
Don't know if it matters but my interioir is black on black with tinted windows which may reduce glare or something.

How would this work with Sirius Sat. Radio...I see that it has the XM traffic thing...

Oh does this new unit also hit the shifter when it opens up? Gotta put the selector in "N"?

Install looks good. I do have the bluetooth unit installed. I got it through Crutchfield and only had to wait about a week before they shipped it. I haven't looked back through all the posts, but you know about the ducatiboy (avic411.com) hack for the Z1 right?

It will work with both. Pioneer favors the XM unit though. XM has a little more functionality and information displayed.

You have to put the car in at least reverse to open the unit.

Thanks. Yeah, Crutchfield is out of stock along with everyone else... I installed a switch for right now, too impatient to wait for ducatiboy's hack.

I'll put it in, when I install the bluetooth adaptor. How is the bluetooth by the way? On avic411.com, there were a quite a few complaints about it.

You have to rip songs from an audio cd or dvd.

I'm happy with it, but you have to have the mic mounted properly. Even then it will pickup the caller's voice from the speakers and cause an echo so I keep the speaker volume low as I need to hear it. This is the only problem I have with it. The user interface is quite good, and it picks up my phone with no problems. I ordered from Crutchfield while they were showing it back ordered, but they still shipped after a week. I think they get a few units every couple of days.

I had a James Bond moment with this the day after it was installed. My wife and I had a babysitter and were going to dinner together. We were deciding where to go on the way. She chose a nice restaurant but was concerned about getting a table. I looked up the restaurant using the nav system, hit info, and tapped the phone number on the screen. The restaurant was automatically dialed, and I was able to check for an open table and reserve it. It was a small husband-hero moment, but she was impressed.
