Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

Maybe we should do the sunroof in a different thread. As well as the VDC. Although I do like the many different discussions we've had in this thread. The sunroof control works a lot like the windows. If you press 'lock' twice within one second and the sunroof is either vented or open it will close. If you hit unlock twice within two seconds it will vent the sunroof. This module is at least 10x more complicated and harder to install the the window mod unfortunately due to the fact that the sunroof will not normally work with the car off. I haven't built any actual hardware for this module, but 99% of the code is done. I just received the hardware yesterday so any day, if I can find some time, I'll start testing it out and hopefully within the next two to three weeks I'll have a prototype built and in my car! This module will mount under the drivers dash, right next to the VDC module! hehe

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

The unit will work with both the sedan and the coupe. The auto door locking feature is programmable and can be shut off with the factory remote. The programming is kind of rough right now, but it works. In the future (verson 2.0) I want to change the programming menus, but that won't happen for a while. With the development of the new modules I am not too worried about adding extra features to a device that already works. Also, version 2.0 probably won't have door locking capabilities at all. They will be replaced by a dedicated, speed controlled module. How many little black boxes can you fit under your dash????? haha

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

I'm not sure if I am just paranoid about my soldering...but it seems as thou it's harder to trigger the windows to close after my modifications...

like I have to be rather exact with my timing of pressing the remote. too fast or too slow won't work, and it seems that the timing has to be more exact now..

anyhow, everything seems to be working well. the "one window partially rolled up" problem is gone. overall, I am quite happy with the install.

let me know if you guys got any questions...
I will post again tmr once I get to play around with it some more =)

Good Job Kevin! Let's start that Sunroof thread now...

did you not hook up the yellow wire? from that pic it looks like you didnt. that could have something to do with teh timing.

damn you got a sharp eye SFL...
well I am not a fan of the door locking function, so I decided not to hoook that up.

since that is the wire that detects ignition, I thought I can probably do without and be sure that I will never get locked out.

would you describe your module's timing to be rather picky? I don't have anyone to compare with yet...

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

i would describe it as being picky some of the time. sometimes it will take the sequence and other it wont and ill have to do it again. but i never have to do it more than twice usually. i think kevin might increase the time to 1.5 secs instead of 1 sec in the new version. with the increase in time, the timing wont be as picky.

as for the yellow wire, you still might want ot hook it up, case you ever want to turn the feature on. since the ignition controlled door locking system is programmable.

To disable this feature:
Turn the ignition on and WAIT for the doors to lock. After they lock you have approximately six seconds to push the lock button three times. The next time you turn the ignition on the doors should not lock

To enable this feature:
Turn the ignition on and within approximately six seconds push the lock button three times. The next time you turn the ignition on the doors should lock after six seconds.

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

As usual Dan is on top of things. I would recomend hooking it up, but it really isn't needed. I can't explain the timing being 'picky.' I don't consider mine picky and it works every time. However, I have created a habit to hit the button twice every time at about the same timing, so maybe I am just used to it. I wasn't planning on increasing the timing, but maybe I will. After the boards were modified I never heard anyone complain about it being harder to use. Another strange thing is that you didn't change to programming at all, and nothing you did should effect the way the pulses are read. Keep me updated on this!

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

I would definitely suggest that you increase the timing to 1.5 sec...

I think that would only make it more convenient to use and shouldn't really have any negative side effects, right?

I don't think anyone would ever want to lock their doors twice but not close the windows.. there's no point

Re: How about window roll-up via OEM remote ?

well, I'm not being picky here. it's a legitimate improvement.
imagine if you were trying to show off your latest mod to your friends...

you roll your wimdows down and say " ok now watch this..." and keep hitting your remote but the nothin happens except the doors keep locking. that's just not cool.

anyway, like you said, the main reason for this module was for convenience. you want to just walk away from your car, hit the remote and the windows go up. it's not that convenient any more if you have to try 2 or 3 times everytime...

but let's not dwell on this topic anymore. I'm sure kevin will decide what's best. and I am planning to live with what I've got since I would be too lazy to take it out of my car again. this thing is a great mod and everytime I park my car I purposely leave my windows down now =P

btw, install is a breeze. scariest part I think is getting the door handle cover off. cuz that thing is TIGHT and you gotta pull on it HARD.

also, all the wire colours kevin indicated in the instructions were correct for my 2004 Coupe.

Wow, this is getting to be one of the longest threads on the site! I can't wait for mine!!!!
Kevin, the sunroof board, once that is complete, is it going to hook-up along with the window-up module in the door? I ask this because when I puchase it, should I wait for both to be finished or is it going to be a simple add-on? Thanks!
