Lack of drivers seat headroom? Easy, easy $0 Fix
Did it today and I took a different approach..I pulled the seat out and did it in my garage! Not only did I do the mod but I was able to give the seat/carpet a good cleaning. I will see once I drive it if I think it was worth it.
So if I move it all the way down the seat gets uneven. The reason is because the tilt of the front of the seat does not move down as much as the rear now so when its gets too low something on the front right of the seat props it up so it gets uneven. This mod gets a 2/10 from me. Gratz on the people that it worked for.
I have enough headroom to begin with just the seating position is to high up I would feel better if it was a bit lower.
I just did this. I think they're referring to the rubber thing, the part towards the back end of the car. It should be pushed up flush to the nut.
Also, it was much easier to maneuver by removing the 12mm nut holding some sort of bracket with a U-loop in it down. Then you could turn the nut much farther. I just put it back on afterwards. I think someone else in this thread mentioned doing that.
It appears I gained 1/2"-1", I didn't drive it so I won't fully know until tomorrow.

Just finished with this. For those of you that took 15 minutes to get this done, I thank you for your experimenting and testing. It allowed me to finish in under 10 minutes, and part of that was trying to find my vice grips. I moved the "nut" to about ¼" from the end plate. Piece-o-cake.
Didn't drive it yet because it's freshly washed and a thunderstorm is brewing (hmmm ... maybe a claying session is in order). It's definitely lower, but I'll see how much tomorrow on the way to work. I had plenty of room before, but it did feel like I was sitting up pretty high, especially when my 5'2" GF was a passenger (I'm 6'1" with a long torso).
One added bonus I didn't figure on was that my left elbow can now actually rest on the door arm rest. My usual long-drive seating position (elbow on arm rest, left leg angled up, wrist on left thigh, underhand grip on wheel) was not possible because of the seat height. I had my arm up on the top of the door (actually, just the end of my elbow), but it's not wide enough for long term comfort.

Thanks to the gang that found this adjustment - I now have approx. 0.5 inch extra headroom (sorely needed). I just wish I could get the driver's seat as low as the passenger's seat - seems like it's a good inch lower still than my seat.
I just did this and it did give me a bit more headroom. I think there may have been a reason why the stop nut was where it was though - now when I lower the seat all the way down I feel the right side of the seat run into something (center console?) and it feels like the whole seat leans slightly to the left. So I just brought it back up until it was level again. I'm guessing I got about 1/2 inch extra room from this. Also, I found that if I lay across the back seat (feet sticking out rear passenger door), I could reach the seat lowering switch with my right hand and keep my left hand on the wrench at the same time - made it mush easier.
Sweet Mod, I removed the bracket clarkkent06 mentioned above and it made it easier to turn the nut and I moved it all the way. I also laid accross the backseat like threeputzz mentioned . I got about an extra inch headroom. I took the car for a drive took some corners pretty fast and so far no problem with seat. Hope this pic helps
