Need advice. Got unrevised Z springs by mistake.
Just traded in my 03 auto sedan for an 06 6MT sedan. Trolling through this site is really giving me the itch to start with the mods so I figure the unrevised Z springs would be a good start. Found a guy on my350z that's got em real cheap but when they show up I see 2 red and 1 purple dot so I know I've got revised springs. OK, so now what do I do?
Do I consider buying Tokico D's and stick with these springs. I'm afraid it would be too stiff and I might also need bars, wider rear tires, etc to make it work.
Do I write these springs off (only $75 so no big deal) and find a set of unrevised springs.
If I decide to get new springs anyway, do I use my Z springs up front and get coupe springs for the rear. In reading these threads, I've been a little concerned the Z springs drop the sedan too low in back. I've read everything from 7/8" to 1 1/4" so I'm not sure what to believe. 7/8" would be good but 1 1/4" might call for spacers.
Gsedan35. Need your help dude!

My experience in running the revised Z springs on oem sport shocks wasn't really about any kind of spooky at the limit experience. It was about not having quite enough rear shock power to deal with a 27% increase in rear spring rate. It was enough that I did not run the setup for very long.
What to do is up to you. You can either install them, find unrevised rears, or buy D-specs. I recommend D-specs anyhow because how good they really are, not just to cure what your dealing with now. Oh and getting a set of adjustable sway's is still a good idea and worth the investment.

Thanks for the advice. I think since I already have them I'll toss the revised springs in for now. I can see if I like the stance and overall stiffness and then make the call if I keep going and add D-specs and sway bars or swap out unrevised rear springs.
Ok then, I'm sold on going all out and getting the D-specs and Stillen sway bars to go with my revised z-springs. Based on your experiences, should I have any issues with alignment? I don't think the drop will be that extreme so I wasn't planning on needing any camber kits?
Had the alignment done, no problem. No needs for extra parts. Car turns in great, understeer much less, maybe a little twichy but overall great choice for the price.

Installed revised Z springs on my 06 6MT sedan
Well I got the itch and decided to put my revised Z springs on my sedan this weekend. I still might get the D-specs later but I couldn't justify trashing my shocks when my car has less than 1000 miles on it.
First of all now I remember why I stopped working on cars. Six hours, one mashed fingernail and a few busted nuckles later my car sits about 1 inch lower than before. That Autozone rental spring compressor was a real PITA. At least the rent was free. Admittedly I was a little rusty not having done this kind of work in awhile and with a good spring compressor I can see where this job could be done in 3 hrs or less. Thanks to this site for the install how-to or I might still be working on the car.
First impressions. The car looks great! Perfect stance, just what I was looking for and compliments the stock 18"s real well. Even the wife likes it. Some of the sedans with unrevised rear springs seem to sit a little low in back but the revised springs sit level. Almost the exact same tire to fender gap front and rear. I only wanted a mild drop and the front dropped about 1" and I would say about 3/4" in back. Basically it now looks how it should have from the factory.
The ride. I know Gsedan35 is against revised rear springs with stock shocks, but I really can't tell the difference. I've put about 50 miles on the car with the new springs and it doesn't feel much different than stock. The roads in AZ are in pretty good shape so maybe it would be more noticeable on rough roads or at the track. But since it feels OK, I think I'll just stick with the OEM shocks for now. Besides, if my shocks do wear out faster, I can get my D-specs that much sooner. Overall I'm real happy and the car seems to lean less in turns too.
So there it is--my first mod on the new car and first serious mechanic project in quite a few years. Maybe once my hands heal up I'll start searching the classifieds for a coupe mid-pipe.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I a question. So for the 06 sport suspension G, you can use the 03-04 unrevised Z springs? I will not have to get new shocks with this set up?
And if I do get the revised set of Z springs I will need to get new shocks?
What marking should I be looking for on these springs?
Thank you
