Off the top of my head... GENERAL Rule of thumb for NISSAN/INFINITI Parts... the Lower Number is RIGHT side...

I believe 54469 is the LEFT (US Driver) / 54468 is the RIGHT (US Passenger)... I can tell you for sure from the office tomorrow... But I am 99.999999% sure

The sides are always based on Drivers Perspective...

I shoulda went with RI, then I would have gotten my parts on time. It was a little cheaper through a vendor i found that I won't mention.

This is probably a dumb question, and forgive me for it, but would changing your springs and struts fix the problem or is the compression strut something else? Reason why I ask is that I am getting the same creaking in the rear.

 

it may verywell make it worse since the bushings will then be forced to be at a different angle...

should always loosen the bolts for the suspension arms and tighten them at a position to be positioned better for the lower ride height..

 

Ok, so only way out of the creaking is a new compression strut?

 

Well I installed the compression rod on my passenger side yesterday and sad to say it did not solve my rattling. =( I guess I will have to take it to someone to look at. This sucks more than oil leak problems. Maybe.

 

Sorry to hear that, I guess it was a different rattle than the one I had. Are you leaving the new compression rods on or going to sell 'em?

 

I might just pull it out and sell it when I have the time. Its only the passenger side though. So maybe it is the ball joint for the coilovers. Hell if i know now.

 

Alright let me know if you are selling it anytime soon, I think I might be in need of it for the passenger side as the creaking is getting annoying. I am in Toronto though so if you only want to sell local I can always just order it from Riverside. Thanks.

 

I started this thread on July 7th and am very sorry to say that I may have found my creaking compression rods to be the very last straw in my 4 years of G35 ownership. I have lived with the tire feathering and rattles but the front end creaking has pushed me over the top. I am past the warranty and will not put any money into this car. There is no reason after 23,000 miles my car should sound like any old clunker. As I mentioned in the first post, my girlfriend's 06 G35 Sedan is starting to make the same noise. Even if there is an upgraded compression rod, I don't feel like putting any more effort into this car.

does this defect also affect the caster settings? My passenger front caster is completely off and is rubbing against my inner lining!

 

The TSB for the early G35 Coupe drift to the right was actually a caster correction. It required the replacement on the right side of the compression rod. I had it done. My car still drifts to the right.
