Brake bleeding. Perferred method?

I've done pump, pressure (slow) and vacuum.

You have have a preference as it pertains to your G/Z? One work better than another?

I have a vacuum type like this: (removed bleeders and put teflon tape on the threads though)

I've also made my own pressure type like this:

Done all three types on my maxima. All worked okay.

Take off the wheels. take off the little caps.. i think its like a 8 mm or something.. and just suck out the brake fluid.. you want to start from the longest line

I think ours proceedure is
Right Rear
Left Rear
Right Front
Left Front

keep doing it until the fluid is clean then simply tighten the nut.. Oh and make sure you dont run out of brake fluid in the reservoir.

Lastly.. brake fluid will lift your paint if left on the paint which is why i remove the wheels lol

oh and put a big black trash bag under your work area so you dont stain the floors either =)

If it's been more than a year, I'd flush the fluid, yes.

I think I need 3 pints to flush the fluid right?

I'm going to get motul fluid, whatever the best one is.

Quart and a 1/2? If you have done it before maybe. I'd buy more if that motul comes in a storable container. The worst thing is running out.

I'd buy 2 quarts.

All I know is speedbleeders r fawking AWESOME. They definitely SAVE TIME. Its almost TOO easy to bleed with those things...

When I bleed brakes, I start with the brake furthest away from the master cylinder and work my way up to the closest. Basically what Klumzee said...RR, RL, FR, FL.

I've always used the 2 person pedal method and had no issues

I use a pedal method also.

But I was at les schwab recently and they did brakes on one car and their pedal method looked strange to me.

What I do is

One person in the car pumping and I'm outside releasing the fluid.

1. Pump 5 times or till the pedal gets really hard.
2. Hold the pedal
3. Open valve to drain the fluid
4. Close valve
5. Pump the pedal again, hold and repeat.

What they did was

1. Open valve
2. Push pedal once
3. Fluid drains
4. Close valve
5. Release the pedal

Wait a little and repeat.

^this seems weird to me.

I think that is to replace brake fluid when you do not have to bleed much air out of the system, just replace the fluid. No need to pump the pedal much. Easy and quick.

I use the Mityvac system because it allows one person to bleed the brakes, works quickly and does the job very well. I used the Motive pressure for a couple years ( before I had the G), but had problems getting it to seal on the master cylinder and most of the fluid would pour out on the floor by the engine. Even their screw top exact fit did not fit well and their universal top was a disaster. I will sell it cheap!

LOL. I made my own pressure bleeder and yeah, the top wont' seal sometimes. The Z guys are going to get a nasty surprise one of these days. The fluid won't stop pouring out until the fluid is gone or the pressure goes to nil. IMHO there aren't enough threads on the MC to allow a good seal.

Actually the factory service manual, says to first disconect the VDC control, or unhook the battery, and then bleed in the following order, rt rear, then left front, , left rear, and fnally the rt front.

Are you able to rent these from somewhere? Would be nice to not have to buy one when I do mine.
