Question Question about 'dropping on Zsprings'

I see many of you guys that say you are 'dropped on Z springs' and some that are Z spring front and coupe rears... This seems to give a subtle effect without being too low, its technically the wife's car and she's not gonna go for anything extreme yet...

Pre-note... please read the word "easy" to mean very few additional parts, or extra modifications required.... I come from a family of mechanics and we own a body shop... so technically difficult things can still be 'easy' for me...

Ok, so is it really as 'easy' as installing 350Z front springs and coupe rear springs? And what kind of price range should I be looking at as a reasonable price for springs? New or Used?

Get used, look in the marketplace or on my350z.com, springs you can have for 40-60 bux or full set up with struts for 150-200. Read up on this in the FAQ.

I think I spent $200 for springs and struts. Bought the springs here, the struts from my350z.com Me and a more mechanically inclined friend did the work in about 6 hours or so. Did have one bolt that we stripped after trying to get it off so had to have a shop do a quick impact wrench job. That took about an hour or so of the 6 we spent on it. Good luck with it, I definitely like the look.

After

The install is VERy easy being that you have your own body shop. It's a simple swap from stock suspension to z suspension. Personally I would go with some revised 350z shocks/struts with z springs up front and coupe in the rear. It's exactly what you're wife is looking for. Not too low but low enough to give it an aggressive stance. I LOVE the drop and added sport performance it gives my g.. here's some pics of mine with the drop...

I did not have have to roll the fenders at wall. No issues with speed bumps or bumpy roads either. Only time it scrapes is in the driveway and that's if I don't go in at an angle. I also have the front lip so that adds a little lower front bumper. Your wife should be fine with the 350z full suspension.

how much of a difference is the stance/drop from the stock 05 sport suspension to the full 350z set up?

why do people throw on the coupe springs in the back and not the 350z's?

It's not the suspension that drops it.. it's the springs. So if you put the z/coupe springs on the 05 g sports suspension, it'll drop it as low as my car in the pics above.

That was REALLY what I wanted to know. Your drop is perfect for me (I like Marty315's as well) since I already have the sport suspension but wanted a bit more aggressive stance my my black "beast".

Are you running the coupe 19's w/ Z-springs...and you did not have to roll your rear fenders?

In my case, I wanted to accomplish 2 things:

One, maintain the stock rear spring rate of 342 lbs using G cpe springs (1/2" drop) with 3 red dots. Using the revised z springs(1" drop)(revised are the most common, the unrevised 342 spring rate rear '03 springs are harder to come by and older/higher mileage) increases the spring rate to 427 lbs, which is a no-no for my stock-sport shocks and also not good for ride quality.

Second, the fender is cut higher in the front so, using a 1" drop all around is an even drop, but it does not look even b/c it creates or maintains a squatted or sagging rear..ie it looks too low in the back relative to the front.

to the op, this is a great ride and handling setup, price to pick up here and in the 350z board:
g cpe springs $ 55 shipped
z springs $ 70-75 shipped

I have the rear fender-lips rolled just as precaution, it was not absolutely necessary.

Guys, this has been covered over and over...but one more time
The reason we use coupe springs for the rear of sedans is b/c if you look at the fender line of sedans the front fender is cut higher giving impression the rear is lower when using just 350z springs, coupe springs even out the "look" not the drop. Using 350z springs all around will give you even drop but uneven look. Struts are not nessessary but recommended. NO FENDER rolling is required for 350z/coupe springs combos. If you are mechanically inclined you can remove the front strut/spring assembly without undoing the control arms, if you unbolt it and push control arm down the assembly will slip out to the side.

Yes those are the coupe 19's with 245/35's in front and 255/35's in rear. Z suspension with coupe springs in rear. No I did not have to roll my fenders. I may have to roll the rears a bit though. I rubbed very very slightly with a friend of mine in the backseat the other day. Not a big problem though.
