Tokico HP vs OEM shocks/struts (review)
There is ALOT of bad information on this thread. If you drive a G buy the G shocks, if you drive a Z buy the Z shocks. There is about an inch difference in the length of the shaft between the G and Z HPs. I know, I have had and installed both. The ride is much more harsh with the Z shocks. The rear of my car sat 1/2 inch lower with Z HPs than G HPs, same springs seated correctly.
+Throws hands and head down+ Fineeeeeee.
Though I saw a slight drop. Again, there may have been some variable in my application. I will get pictures by tomorrow of my drop (G HP's with Z H-techs, no alignment kit yet)
got my G hp shocks put in and it did raise the car alittle.
i have 93k on my car, so i assume the stocks shocks were done.
Car feels more solid i must say though.
Now i may go with some 350z s-techs.

I can see if your OEM shocks were sagging and you put new shocks on the car that it will sit HIGHER THAN BEFORE INSTALLATION BUT NOT HIGHER THAN IT SHOULD STOCK.
What people in this thread are not understanding is that the shaft of Z HP shock is SHORTER than a G HP shocks. YES they are interchangable but there is a difference. I have had DF210 springs on both G shocks and Z shocks. You have to compress the spring more on a Z shock than a G shock during installation due to the shorter length of the shaft. So after installation, you have a spring that is already compressed more on the Z shock than the G shock. This translate into a rougher ride when you install them on the car. Think about it, the spring is already slightly compressed on a Z shock so you are losing that softer initial feel of the spring that you would get with the G shock.
I really hope this helps because I did both and learned the hard way. Your car will ride much different on Z shocks than G shocks with the same springs because the springs are already compressed before the bumps are hit. This translates into a shorter and firmer range of the spring.

Completely right, kudos sir.
Click the thumbnails for bigger pics (If anyone can tell me how to post links to the FULL size pictures [4000x2248] that would be glorious...). Also if you find that one is sexy enough (doubt you will) They'll fit Widescreen monitors for desktops.
This is on an '04 6MT w/ Brembos. She has 350z H-Tech Springs and G35 Tokico HP shocks with no corrective alignment kit (Kinetix full alignment kit is in the shopping cart). The pass. side still has to settle a little bit (it was 1:30 in the morning and it was the second front spring, I didn't feel like compressing it again to rotate the strut tower mount....) so it may be just a tad higher.
Enjoy.

This lower one is the front wheel gap on mine.

This lower one is the front wheel gap on a stock '04 G35 6MT with brembos

This is a pic of them side to side. The high res shows the comparison much better.

^then i can come by and get a shot of my Z HP's with Z H-techs next to your G HP's and Z H-techs with brian's G HP's and G S-techs so we cane compare all of our G and Z HP's to G and Z H-techs and Z S-techs so we can find out how the drop is with my Z HP's with Z H-techs next to your G HP's and Z H-techs with brian's G HP's and G S-techs and circle jerk about the results
