I'm about to do this tomorrow, and as I was reading through my repair manual it says to use a balljoint separator tool. Do I really need to pick one of these up?

No, that's just a great way to ruin your ball joint boots. Just back the nuts off a bit, but leave them on so you don't hit the threads, and give it a good whack straight down on the nut with a BFH to pop the ball joint out of the knuckle.

did you guys get red or black ES bushings? Zilvian guys are saying that black one is for self lubrication, and red one dries out over time

I installed them on my coupe as well but seems like there a little problem. It makes a clicking noise when I'm making a turn, especially when i park and try to turn my steering wheel. First i thought my tie rod but after i replaced both of my inner and outer tie rods, the clicking noise is still there.
Does any one have the same problem? I did lube the metal tube with anti-size before install them..

is there a DIY to instal compression rod bushings ?

I just got my ES bushings in (mine are black). My passenger side is completely blown. Im getting all kinds of road noise and having alignment issues. Guess the AWD torque to the pass side front wheel took it out.

I have also noticed some squeaks lately since the temps have been falling. Like keithk831, I usually only hear it when backing out of the driveway. I haven't gotten under there to take a closer look yet, but am hoping that adding some lube will quiet them down.

Can you describe the noise? is it a squeaking when you're turning the steering wheel? Mine is squeaking and clicking as well.. I'm about to add some lube tomorrow see if it helps..

^ The noise is more of a creaking type of sound. I get it when I turn the wheels at very slow speeds also. The weird thing is that I only notice it when the car is cold and I'm backing out of my driveway or a parking space.

Same here. It's more of a creaking...like when my old bushings were wearing out.
