Just Purchased new Akebonos, but I think i got scammed, HELP

I just purchased some akebonos(calipers) from circle infiniti in the mid west. They were supposed to be new, but they look like crap.

I was looking at other forums members akebonos and theirs are nice painted sparkly silver all around. mine are only silver on front half. one caliper has a dent and touch up paint, the back sides have like dry grease/ maching marks.

all of the bolts look a little tapered on the corners and more so at the top, like a wrench was starting to strip them.

I asked infiniti about it and they say they are 100% new,

Can anyone else let me know how theirs came?
What do you think? are these refurbs?

Please let me know what you guys thing so I can take necessary steps asap.

all of the other pics are on my sugmug

they look new to me. if they were used, there would be marks on the mounting tabs.

yeah those look new to me

its cause no one sees the back of the brakes so that's why they look kinda off

also everyone usually gets their powder coated or something

Only the front half comes painted. Of they used touch up paint on them then that's a little sketchy, but they don't looked used. Probably just got dropped or scratched up when packing them. Which would be unacceptable if they were sold at full price

I think they might be refurbished Mike. I had a set here at my house before that came off of a G37 sedan. I had a guy come over to have his set of Akebonos installed (he bought them from a vendor on here). His looked identical to yours (painted only on half) and the OEM set I had here were painted all the way around, front and back. The only thing we could come up with was his had to be refurbished, which isn't a bad thing but hopefully they are being sold at a refurbished cost and not new.

Call tomorrow and find out.

That's how they sell them half painted because nobody sees the back and that way they save money

They said they are new and I dont trust them, because they were bubble wrapped well, and if all of the marks etc should be identical on the back side.

I was thinking what you guys said about half but look at these two pics here from the DIY post

https://g35driver.com/forums/brakes-...03-07-g-z.html

As for price, they are on ebay, They were 940 shipped for calipers NEW( not including rotors, pads, adapter bracket etc). I did however have that 10% ebay so thats why I decided to buy, I figured with the ebay 10% thats stupid cheap.

I messaged them but they said it was new. the backs are very inconsistant from the fronts plus in one of the pics I posted there was a dimple.

You never know, maybe infiniti decided to not paint the back to save on cost.

They use to be fully painted, but they found a more efficient way to save money and that is to paint half of the caliper, so that's how they sell them now

^ I see where you are comming from, are you saying cuz you heard it from infiniti or just makes sense?

are yours like that too?

My other question is, okay so whatever if it is true they didnt paint the back, is it normal for there to be all of thos dark markings and rubbing on the back. Wouldnt the back be consistant?

you would have to load up some pics from my smugmug to see more what im talking about.

Well to be honest, I've heard it previously before I ordered mines and it makes sense for them to try to save every penny they can from a business stand point.

Yes mines did come like that, and no I did not have those markings on the back but they do appear to be new from the looks of the seal and paint... the marks could have been from grease or something as you stated but they appear to be new.

Mine was bubble warpped etc and stuff and had a chip on one of the caliper from shipping I presume, but I didn't want to pay to ship it back and I'll end up powdercoating it when I have extra funds so I just bolted it on

I jut got mine yesterday that I bought from a vendor on the boards. Only the front half was painted which I really dont care since I am powdercoating them. There are no nicks or other markings. I just figured this was the way they came. I dont see why they would paint the back when its not visible.
