E-Brake
E-Brake
My car is beeping at me while driving and telling me that the E-Brake is on. I have checked the brakes, lines, pads, and fluid. They are not engaged or worn down. What could it be?

What year and model are you driving?
See service bulletin ITB09-026 for one possibility. It affected a LOT of models.

Your model is covered under the service bulletin.
You don't need to remove the lower finisher to see if you have the spinning parking brake switch. Just scrunch yourself down in there with a good light and you can figure it out.

When I looked on the forums and when I called my dealer to inquire about the fix, they said it's about 3 hours of labor and a $200 part. Unless you have an extended warranty (which probably wouldn't cover this anyways since it's most likely going to be "wear and tear") it probably won't be covered. It's also not an official recall so it won't be fixed without charge. You may be better off fixing it yourself or taking it to an independent shop to have it looked at.
I would have fixed it myself but I just simply don't have the time. I also don't want to bite the dealer cost for fixing it which is why my brake light is still on. lol

Yes, but that's for the entire parking brake assembly (including the pedal, if i'm not mistaken). The part number is listed in the TSB that is provided above. You can probably fix this without buying the entire assembly by fiddling with the switch if you get in down there and take a good look.

IF the problem is the switch, I think it would be covered under the Infiniti extended warranty if you have one. If no warranty, I agree you could probably find a way to secure it yourself. But for me, I would not want to just ignore the brake lamp since it is used for other warning MIL combinations (low fluid and ABS).
If you haven't fixed it yet, I finally went and solved the problem in a matter of minutes at no cost. You could do the same.
