Oddly, and perhaps not surprisingly, the sound of the exhaust has changed from the heating and reshaping of the coupe middy - and not for the better. It's slight and only I can tell tho. I will get over it if I can get the issues fixed with the banging as the extra rigidity is well worth it.

Knowing the stock midpipe was in the basement, I instructed my buddy mechanic to do whatever it took to make this midpipe work. I'm a half inch away. I think the look on my face when he saw it didn't fit motivated him to do some, let's say, so so work. Some folks have gotten shorter hangers and I think that will do the trick..and then I'll just have to figure out if I can deal with the slight alteration to sound.

Driving impressions are very positive. The car is not suddenly an M35 but it sure is more glued onto the road in any situation where the chassis can flex. I need to push her and I haven't yet but you can even sense these things are there in the steering and while cruising around town.

I'd like to see the reports regarding the 4 point chassis as certain situations really still can flex this chassis. Too bad it costs as much as the other 3 bars.

It's a close up so the effect is perhaps exaggerated. It's not like the pipe is 2 inches in that spot.

SixFive,

Very discouraging! I wonder if you could put something between the bar and the mip-pipe to keep them from clanging.... Too bad you didn't install the two braces, test drive and evaluate. Then add the lateral brace and determine the degree of improvement. Hopefully the 4-point chassis brace will be in soon and I can install. Can't hardly wait! I'm bummed about the lateral brace.

Wrap the pipe with some exhaust wrap... it won't keep them from touching, but it'll keep it from clanging...

The heat wrap will work for a while but if they move too much it will wear through it with time. I had to put it on my sway bar on my last car and replace it every 3-4 months.

That's not a bad idea - i'd prefer not to bend the pipe anymore. The new hanger is probably the best idea.

Anyone know what the size of the stock one?

More Driving Impressions: It's kind of like tightening up the sways as the car is more on edge a tad. It's a very noticable mod. Very good response from the car and very quick reactions to my inputs. My tires seem to be howling more than they used to but my foot is in lead-test mode.

The car seems to tramline a bit more and you can feel the suspension do it's thing a bit more as it should. With the stock sports springs and the rear sway, the car is certainly now more sporty than lux. It's a real driver. Just need some new sneakers on her and we'll be good.

Now that I've had all three bars installed and driven it I can better tell how the differences are should I take the lower lateral bar off. I hope it won't come to that but I must say looking at the bar - that it's has a great deal of responsibility for the added rigidity. I bet 2 of the 3 bars is still great, but I want my old VW Passat's level of rigidity and I think I'm there with all 3. The 4 point brace will probably take this thing to A-6 levels.

I'm so bummed the lateral bar doesn't fit. I'm going to contact GTSPEC and inform them that we must have this re-engineered to fit our stock G35 exhaust. Maybe we will get lucky.

CATO this may work for the stock exhaust. The mid-pipe bends down more than the stock mid pipe I believe. Perhaps it will fit the stock exhaust?

I thought the lateral bar would fit if you had stock exhaust on the G35 Sedan.

Would you recommend that I get my swaybars first or the GTSpec bars.

I DO NOT have the stock exhaust. I have the coupe midpipe. It may only be me as well. My exhaust may be warped in a way that makes it unique from every one elses.

I would get the sway as body roll is the enemy and then do the GT Spec stuff for a more rigid ride. Either way is good and can't hurt.

FWIW...
An observation from the pics...
The nut on the front bar looks like it's only on halfway due to the mount thickness.

It may be an anomaly of the pic, but if it's really like that, I'd be concerned.

Good point inTgr8r. Is this consistent with everyone's installation of the front bar? How about the rear bar? Thanks.
