1. i did not have to have alignment done again, since the mechanic marked the alignment screws and made sure they didn't move during the install.

2. my mechanic did not use the washers that came with the bars ("more sheer forces with more parts on one bolt, + fewer threads to grab on with"), but did put red threadlock on the screws.

I did not get an alignment for reason #1 in Codeflux's post.

Now I have to get the fuel filler line recall done and Infiniti will try and charge me for taking the lower lateral brace off. They just told me the will be taking the entire exhaust system off. I may just remove it for now and try again later. That will allow me to see what the deal is without it and decide if it's worth it.

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE LENGTH OF THE MID PIPE HANGER?

I got an alignment after the lower bars were installed. My rear end was not out of allignment, but the front was. I just had the fuel line recall done, so I think I need another alignment. Infiniti never said a word about the rear bar. I wonder if it is still there? I freak about these things....

The nut on the front bar looks like it's only on halfway due to the mount thickness.

It may be an anomaly of the pic, but if it's really like that, I'd be concerned.

Can someone please confirm this .. coz I would be worried too, and indeed very worried..

Mine seems to fit but I will check when I get home tonight. On the lift I noticed no such problem...but there is a reason I work in an office away from tools, fire, pointy stuff or hot liquids.

GTSPEC replied to my querey:

Dave,

That was the problem we had on the Coupe that’s why the rear lateral will not fit the coupe. At this point we don’t have any plans to modify the piece to fit the coupe mid pipe because the brace itself is already very low. Any lower might cause problem as it will hit the ground more often and eventually might break some stock bolts. Having a brace that break bolts is not a good thing and that point alone might deters buyers for this product.

I looked at the bolts and they have a tad bit of space - I don't remember the length of the bolt, but they are not short and 9/10ths of it is torqued in. I can see that leaving a washer out wouldn't hurt but neither is leaving it in. I've beat on the car pretty hard and that thing ain't moving.

I think I may try to wrap the bar - if I do it thick enough tho it will contantly touch. That can'tbe good. Not sure what to do...

Can you return it? What do you think the chances are of it hitting something on the road?

Well you increase your chances a tad but let's be real. If you prudently are aware of your clearance - you should be ok. My eye probably can't discern between the clearance before and after the bar from the drivers aspect and so my old mental picture of what I can clear should still suffice. I make very conservative driving decisions when it comes to potential front fascia, rim or tire damage. I've learned the hard way to be super careful when in any doubt.

Would you consider swapping the coupe mid for the sedan suitcase? I'm betting everything on the 4-point chassis brace.
