Another G sedan with 350z suspension *PIX*
#61
i been reading the forums, and it got me all confused. Some people say the 350z setup springs+shocks would make the car sit higher... I have 2003.5 sedan Non sport. I am going to buy springs + shocks this week, i need to know which ones i should get... I am just thinking 1" wouldnt be enough, it kinda sits high up with 19" rims now.

Revised oem 350z springs and Tokico D-spec7 installed on my g (did it by myself and with help of a few friends over a 2 day period)....the following is my REVIEW....
I set the front and rear struts/shocks to 5 full counter-clockwise turns from full firm.... this i assume would be a #4 firm possibly.... first initial drive out the garage (my cousin's large warehouse style building) i heard a clunk.... i'd figure it was the suspension settling in but looked forward to hearing more clunks during the test drive.... after the test drive, no more clunks so, it seems good....NOTE: all tests were done on empty 2-lane rural roads ( i live in the boonies)....
anyway, intial launch does not squat the rear end as much anymore... possibly due to the stiffer rear z-springs would be my best guess...
did several emergency lane change maneuvers and slalom weaving with the center line dashes at about 40 to 60 mph speeds.... a lot less body roll (the stillen sways on medium front and rear contributes to this)..... no more twitchy and bouncy effect experienced with stock sport suspension (tokico struts also)...the d-spec's damping features are awesome....
my girlfriend sat shotgun to experience the difference in road feel and the tossing that the front buckets seem a little lacking to curtail.... ride felt no worse than stock to her as "it feels smoother and lower" was her observation... she got tossed around literally...
brake dive felt less pronounced too.... driving over railroad tracks felt like stock...
low speed turning and maneuvering made no hint of clunking or mysterious noises...
one thing left to test are the cloverleaf on and off ramps on I-5 and highway 99... stay tune for followup on those...
wheel gaps are like my 2 fingers big only now as opposed to the 3-4 finger gap of stock sport springs....
overall i'm happy... now i just gotta hit highway 128 to lake berryesa one more time.... plan to cruise salmon falls road too as that is sorta twisty also...

If you like the 350z stock springs, you'll love the 350z H-tech springs, see below with 235/45/17 tires and stock wheels, I actually like the stock wheels much more now. And when the stock struts blow, its on to D-spec adj. struts.
I love the ride, car handles great and still is soft over the bumps. H-techs take another 1/2" off the 1" drop the stock z springs provide and stiffen up the car a little more, I am in love with these springs. In my opinion - the perfect drop with some 19" wheels.

need a confirmation/explaination please:
I have an 05 with the sport suspension and am considering a set of unrevised z springs.
The way I understand is that the unrevised work well with the sport suspension. I really would appreciate it if someone could help me out with this. Thanks in advance.

Noah, You are correct. You have the sport and I don't (I forgot that when we spoke last). I just got a 2005 revised because I am replacing the whole suspension with the Z's. Since you already have shocks/struts that are higher rates than mine you can go with the unrevised z springs and use your shocks, but don't use the z's unrevised shocks/struts because they had the bumpy/bouncy problem.
