Want a G/Have BMW what am I doing wrong?
I hope I am posting this in the correct place. Pretty long post, sorry about that.
Anyway, I am in central Florida and currently have a 2005 BMW 325i with an AUTO and only 9,000 (pristine condition-)!! Ihave no idea why I bought a car with an AT. I know why I bought a sedan, because when I leased the car, they were offering strong incentives on the sedan that they were not offering on the Coupe and I had a trade-in issue. I traded a full size Chevy pickup that I had bought about 2 years earlier and this was about the time gas prices started going crazy and GM started offering employee pricing...so needless to say my trade wass not worth much and I had no equity. Oh and I hated the new E90's so I wanted an E46. Now 18 months later, I want out of this BMW. It is not ME at all...soooo boring. My lease payoff is about $2k-2500 more than KBB trade in value.
I sent a couple of internet quotes to 2 local dealers for a 2006 G35 Coupe 6MT in IG, LR or SG with premium and Aero packages on the 30th. One dealer (Lokey) came back with a quote that was about 1900 above invoice on the G and 500 below KBB trade value on my BMW. The guy even said that he thinks I can do better at another dealership. I have not even heard back from the 2nd dealer. I have been trolling around here and have seen many of you talk about invoice deals or a couple hundred above. And I figured that with the 2007's coming I was hoping that there would be a push to unload a few cars, especially at the end of the month.
I am about $2k away from being able to pull the trigger I think. I would do a 12 month, 24 month or maybe even a 36 month lease and my credit is top tier. I did not make unreasonable demands or anything on my quote request, besides to mention that I have MSRP and invoice prices. If it does not work out I will keep my BMW for another year (lease is currently 16 months from ending) then evaluate a 2007 G deal or maybe a new E92 BMW Coupe.
Id rather make the move now. Am I doing something wrong in my negotiating or am I expecting way too much? I am not interested in selling my car outright because I don't want to deal with the hassle. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, I went to Lokey yesterday. Not that they did not try, I think they really did. The issue seems to be my BMW. I mean, the BMW is a 2005 with 8,900 miles and in perfect condition in every way...it even smells brand new. The sticker on that car was just about $37k when I leased it 16 months ago...and now the best offer I have had in trade is $26.5k.
Lokey called wround to some kind of "buyer" or something and the best the buyer would offer was $25k, so Lokey would not give me more than $26k. Damn BMW depreciates worse than a General Motors car (including Cadillac). I see similar cars on BMW and other new dealers used inventory prices at $31-$32k with a few thousand more miles so I don't really get it. Lokey did offer a pretty good price on their car, and if they could/would have done better than my trade by about $2000 or so I think we might have been able to do something.
Oh well, I dont know what else to do, so I guess I will keep the BMW for another 12-18 months and then look at a G...

Yeah, that's would I thought too going into this process. I may advertise the car on Autotrader or Swaplease.com. I just really did not want to deal with the hassle of selling privately and having to coordinate everything with the buyer to meet me at a bank, etc...to pay off the lease and get the title switched over... If not, I will just hold onto it for a while...
