mustang GT vs G35
not by a lot bro. Buddy of mine has an 08 GT auto we raced from a 40 roll. Both cars stock, we were even until 75-80 ish and he started pulling on me. Yes he did win but not what I would have expected from the oh so feared GT. I will give credit where credit is due, they are like SRT-4's mods are a bang for the buck
jones: one needs to run against a manual trans to see what the"oh so feared GT" is all about....I, personally do not even consider a slushbox car to be that fast.
Muscular new engines infuse Mustang with tire-smoking performance. The 4.6-liter all-aluminum V-8 has three-valve heads and cranks out 300 horsepower. Because it has an aluminum block, it weighs 75 pounds less than a comparable cast-iron design while delivering 40 more horsepower than the 2004 engine. That’s more than 50 percent more power than the small-block 289-cubic-inch V-8 found in the classic 1964 model. Motor Trend ran a 2005 Mustang GT 5-speed from 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds and ran the quarter mile in 13.5 seconds at 103 mph in the January 2005 issue. The Mustang GT comes standard with a rear spoiler, but a spoiler delete option is available. 17" wheels are standard

i raced my friend's bolted (gears, tuner, catback, x-pipe, pulleys etc) 03 GT with my stock g. mustang had a big advantage at low speeds especially when my friend who weighs 100lbs less then me driving it(we switched cars and with me in the stang it was like 1 car closer lol) at higher speeds the g started gaining, it was pretty much 1/2 car from a 3rd gear roll..lost by like 1 car from a 2nd gear roll and like 2-4 cars from a 1st gear roll. (my i/e/rh/kpro rsx pulled on the stang from a 2nd gear roll...not really relivent here..lol). Also all that was on my old engine which was burning like a quart(or more) every 1000 miles...might be closer with my new motor
as for 05+ GT's they are a bit faster, but once u get into 3rd gear they don't have much going on. they have a big advantage in the 1/4 though

on the Mustang boards they complain that their gears (2005-08) are too high and have to go all the way through 3rd gear to finish quarter mile. 05 GT with 7000 miles and a filthy stock air-filter ran a best of 14.3 at 99.8 mph. With a fresh air-filter as part of a cold air intake and tune kit the performance improved to 13.8 at 102.5. We'll have more on this kit in a future article. With the factory 3.55:1 gearing we were finishing the quarter-mile run in 3rd gear.
This '05 GT was running 13.5 at 102.5 mph. His modifications were a K&N air-filter and re-tuned computer.
The driver of the black '05 GT (right) had been coming out to bracket events regularly since purchasing the car. With consistant 2.0 short times his car is running a consistant 13.5 at 102.5. His only modifications were a K&N filter, removed carbon trap from the intake duct, and a tune. As with virtually all previous Mustangs, the factory air box and intake track are a severe restriction to power.
Other '05 owners around the nation are also obtaining stellar results. We're getting reports of bone-stock manual cars running as high as 104 mph and mid to low 13's. With slicks, gears, cold-air intakes and tune these things are running deep into the 12's at as high as 107mph. Discounting the SVT models, there is no previous Mustang in history running this hard in stock form.

We only stand a chance 0-60 since the 0-60 specs are close (i.e)- I have an 05' 6MT coupe- 298hp 0-60 in 5.4 sec. (< w/ a pro driver not me lol) and my boys 08' GT 300hp 0-60 in 4.8 - 5.2 sec. he is a good driver and i got him 0-60 but once he hits 3rd gear he pulls hard and eventually passes me =(

To me, these are two completely different cars in two completely different categories. The mustang is all about performance, whereas the G35 is a luxury sports coupe.
That being said: I have owned american "muscle" cars before. It is cool as a kid in highschool or a toy on the side. However, as an all around car, the G35 cannot be beat. The mustang also has the whole stigma thing about it. No thanks, I'll get in the Infiniti

now that my G is modded tho i own his GT every time 0-60 and 0-100.
First no need to be a pri*k, i said the oh so feared GT because mustang owners act like their car is so effin fast stock. lighten up bud.
