mustang GT vs G35
I'm sorry I did compare the 2 when I mentioned the power to weight ratios and noted that the mustang would be faster ..............
Sorry I was misleading but it just led me to further prove my point of your useless reply

thank you for linking me to research i can easily do myself ....
i asked a question to forum members for personal experience, i didnt ask for a magazines take that is notorious for ****ing up tests.
now from the reading you linked me to they are saying that power to weight ratio is .2 different between the cars
mustang being 8.8 hp/lb
m3 being 8.6 hp/lb
ok so what that tells me is from an engine and weight stand point the mustang is up.
butttttt from PERSONAL experience driving that mustang with the live rear is a major PITA ... the car reacts on its own and is a bit unpredictable in the corners, the steering was incredibly numb (may have just been the car i was driving) and the acceleration isnt as snappy as i was hoping for with that lightweight v8. with that being said overall the car was FAST, incredibly out of the ordinary fast for a mustang and it cornered a lot better than my friends 01 cobra.
The m3 on the other hand is an amazing experience (sadly i didnt get to drive an 11' m3 but it was an 09' bone stocker) the all wheel drive and response from that engine were right on point and the overall experience was just better. not to mention inside the m3 you feel like you are piloting a gunship about to destroy the pavement all over the world. although i would never buy one ... for the 67k price tag i can turn any used car into something better.
now if you can give me some info on personal feelings from the 11' m3 id be glad to listen but linking me to some magazine isnt gonig to give me the answers im really looking for.
not many drivers who visit forums can put there cars on the track and make them perform the way those professional drivers from magazines can. My driving is no where near the professional level but i have no problem heel toeing into turns, rev matching properly, and sliding my g smoothly. I would like someones personal take on the car because thats what forums are for.

Now to compare the G37 (or G35) vs the M3 and the Mustang GT:
First, I am not into drag racing. I am all about grip driving. So for me, between the three (as a brand new purchase) I'd have to get the Mustang GT. Of the three it has the highest potential for the lowest cost and the GT can be tuned to handle as well or better than the others without going exotic on the suspension parts. The 05-11+ chassis is becoming very popular for road courses and auto-x and the part companies are doing their best to keep up. I have a good feeling the next gen all new chassis Mustang is going to be a real serious international contender in terms of overall handling, power and affordability.
The M3 is great for an out of the box leave it alone car, but taking it further is only for the deep pocketed few.
The G37 is about the same as the M3 without the power and without the focused suspension development of tuners. Sadly Nissan saw fit to not give the G37 the 370 suspension and drivetrain like they did with the G35/350Z, so it isn't seeing as much love on the track as the G35. Trust me, I have looked into it because I will be tracking my next car more heavily than I have my G35. I really wish Nissan would have given the G37 the rev-match trans and the exact suspension as the 370Z. Given that though, just like the Mustang, you can easily throw power adders and such at the G37 like you said and make it a great well balanced performer, but I still think the Mustang has a higher ceiling in terms of power and handling.
My only critique for the Mustang compared against the G37 and the M3 is the muscle car interior. Despite the improvements Ford made towards interior refinement and quality, the Mustang ergonomics still feels like a mid-size truck. It isn't as svelt or snug as the G37 or M3.
Now you also mentioned that the G37 and the M3 shouldnt be compared against a Mustang...while that may be true if you look at them soley on pricepoints and brand perceptions, it doesnt hold water to the type of cars they are and the performance targets they meet/shoot for. All three are pretty close in dimensions, drivetrain layout, purpose and performance...hence the reason magazines keep comparing them.
Now sure, if you just wanted to facture out price differences and such then the M3 is the clear winner between the three, but it just isnt that simple.
I myself was very resistant to the new 05-11+ Mustang, but I am the first one to admit that Ford has done some impressive work to it lately and it is finally being recognized. Muscle car with a live-axel or not, the car is impressive.
A good magazine test would be the G37S, a 335i (with some M-options), a Mustang GT (with the FRPP suspension/brakes) and the Genesis Coupe 3.8-Track with on-track testing time-attack style. All four are extremely similar and within a few grand of each other if you factor out the BMW markup.
Another car you'll have to look out for in the near future is that new TT-RS coming soon.
I was giving my personal opinion on the car ... I wanted someone else's personal opinion on the car. Not a magazine, a real person I can interact with and ask questions to. Never did I compare the 2 speed wise......
Facepalm yourself this is a forum for information purposes. Most people would rather someone's opinion than that of a magazine because it's on a more personal level ... If I or some other people on this forum wanted a magazines opinion on the 2011 m3 against the 2011 gt they could just google that ****. There is no need to act like an Internet dingleberry and attempt to insult people.

Also, as nice as an opinion is from someone you know or hope to trust, I would have to say I would much prefer a magazine article for a baseline opinion of a car rather than a complete stranger with very specific preferences. The magazines do their best to not be biased (hence their scoring systems) and have the opportunity to test cars in situations some of us can only dream about. Now saying that, I do not think they are the holy grail of information, but they are a great baseline to get someone started in the right direction.

by the way, I have to say that you are the one coming off a little aggressive. I'm not trying to jump on you or make it seem like I defending one over the other, but I do think that most people who would look at your comments in this thread would say that you come off very aggressive and somewhat pompous.

I use "I" a lot in my posts to clarify all the information is coming from me and what I have gathered over time. My knowledge isn't incredible but I have learned alot in the time I've been working on cars.
You seem to know a decent amount and didn't direct your posts in the way the first person did. Actually writing an informative response is much better than posting a link In my opinion
That article is far more informative then anything you or I could have said. What did you want me to say? At best maybe I could say I drove both cars back to back and I prefer car X. The article had an in depth comparison between the two cars with multiple laps done by both a pro driver and a car reviewer. The Mustang was actually faster than the M3 in the hands the non pro driver which is more relevant to people like us since we are OBVIOUSLY not pro drivers. Does that mean I think the mustang is a better car then the M3? No. All it means is that performance wise the mustang is almost equal to an M3 on the track and faster in a straight line.

Thank you so much that part was the prefered response which included your opinion on the comparison of the 2 cars

Why shouldn't your opinion matter? If you feel passionate about something or have some information to share in either direction then share it. But share it in a way that is your own and not a cut and paste link. What was your take on the article? Thanks for posting it by the way I did learn a lot more specific information about both cars that I didn't know. The thing that drives my mind is other people's personal opinions. The best information comes from unlikely places
I am sorry if you are getting beat by any mustang other than the new 5.0's you need to press the pedal on the right. I just got rid of my 04 coupe which was stock other than a pop charger and a z tube and I had only been beaten by one mustang that was modded (you could tell by the cam and straight exhaust). Mustangs are junk for having two extra cylinders and less HP. I have alot of mustang friends and unless it is a cobra, they are quick to admit how slow they are! Camaro SS are much quicker than a stang and from experience, an SS from a 30 and 40 roll only pulls maybe 2 car lengths.
AND BMW's are over priced junk. Why do you think most British motor companies have gone out of business. The M3 might be a nice car off the show room but you will spend more time and money with it stuck in the shop.
