I just called the Old Quebec Designer Boutique Hotel and changed our reservations from June 30th/July 1st to July 5th/6th. The rates are the exact same ($144 per night with full breakfast).

To book your room, call 1-888-412-7336 and ask for either Brent or Nadia. The rooms are currently held under my name. There is a deposit of $54.95 required upon booking.

Ian, good job on moving this forward. There is no problem with us meeting up Saturday evening the 30th if destination is either Bathurst or Campbellton, especially if it is the former. That would bump the rest of the dates on your schedule to one day earlier so we can start the Gaspe on Sunday the 1st.

I've only stayed once in Campbellton. Can't remember the place but it was very basic but large facility. Bathurst has 2 large motels (Danny's and the Atlantic Host) both with dining rooms and closer to H's parents plus 1 hotel downtown (Ho Jos)that I am aware of. I've stayed numerous times in all of them. I can check availability if Bathurst has some interest for the rest. It's about 1 hour from Campbellton meaning we have to backtrack a bit from there. We're fine with either choice.

Shane, I guess I wasn't fast enough with my reply.

Saturday would be no problem for us;
W&K were leaving early as well.

I was just thinking about others that might not be able to leave the GTA etc... untill Saturday.
They'd probably want 2 days travel.

re gathering point....
We've never seen Bathurst...
& just looking quickly, it looks like there's more accomodation there as well.

That's right Ian, we could leave anytime, we have the previous week off so we are very flexible at the first of the trip, so no problem meeting Deane and H when it's good for them.

Yes, that's a good point. It sounds like you would like to meet in Bathurst. That works well for us staying with my outlaws Sat night.

It is a bigger town but not doing well now since the mill closed a year+ ago. They have a nice golf course Gowen Brae and very close to my brother in law and parents in law - if you got there in time. I recommend either Dannys (Heather waitressed there years ago ) or Atlantic Host. They're owned individually by two brothers and in the summer take in a lot of bus tours.

Another option would be to stay in Dalhousie. IIRC, there is a ferry that runs from Dalhousie across the Bay de Chaleur to the Gaspe Peninsula. We could take that ferry and start our Gaspe run from there. Just a thought.

Can't speak for the others...

but Pat & I are OK with whatever you guys decide.
We'll rely on your expert local knowledge

If we can decide, then I think it'd be good to get reservations for that first night (July 1)

^+1 Whatever works. I'm certainly not the expert on the area. Accomodations in Dalhousie will likely be much more limited so it would be an idea to check that first as well as the ferry crossing times, reservations, costs etc. Especially with that holiday weekend. It's not far from Bathurst or Campbellton either. It could be an interesting diversion and might shave a few minutes off versus driving.

If we do the crossing we'll likely stay in Bathurst and meet you there in the am.

Campbelton here, or Bathurst wherever. I just don't like ferries, I have had cars dinged up on them ....................twice, not again.

All we need is a half decent hotel/motel in that aproximate area.
& then go from there.

- I hear you about ferries.... some are worse than others.

^ How much was the room there at the Comfort Inn Wayne? Also, has anyone booked their room in QC yet? Remember that they were only being held for 24 hours, which is now past. I booked mine yesterday.
