Newbie owner looking for advice
Hey all,
I've been cruising this forum and have been really impressed by the helpful posters and sense of community.
I just picked up my '04 sedan Twilight Blue and tan (don't know what official colour is) w/Nav after a 2 month search. Bought from a 3rd party dealership and it was truly an abysmall client experience.
my advice if you have even the smallest reservation don't sign anything.
Had the car inspected at Alta Infiniti and they said oil change, timing belts, air filter and front brake pad and rotors and rear brake service needed to be done. The 3rd party dealer had the brakes done at their garage but left the belts as they said it was "okay".
I believe the belts and filter are part of the maintence schedule for the current mileage (75k km). Anyone have a pdf of service schedule for an '04 sedan? Looking for a recommendation on checking the quality of the work on the brakes and look at the belts or the name of a good local shop.
Also if I get new rims how will this affect the tire pressure sensor system? Anyone with 18"s they are looking to move?
Thanks.

The service schedule is in your owners manual.
As for the TPS, if you install your current TPS in your new rims, you'll be ok. Otherwise, you'll need to buy 4 TPS for your new rims and have the dealer program them to your car.

If anyone had this handy or knows where I can download it (tried infiniti.ca already) it would be appreciated.
Probably going to check out Simone's Performance in NewMarket to have the car checked out. Any one ever dealt with S+S on Eastern Ave and Leslie?

The details for the work recommended in scheduled maintainence are not in the Owner's manual/warranty booklet, only the periods. Called Infiniti Canada and they told me to grab one at a dealer.
Thanks for the tip. Found it, now if it was only had kms it would be perfect

This website is a great resource.
According to this my belts should be okay. Wonder if there is a problem
Did you not get a service history of the car from where you purchased the vehicle?
As for a shop, its a little bit of a drive but I would either go to Oakville infiniti for dealer work to Simone Performance ( located in Newmarket)...www.simoneperformance.com . Vic Simone will offer a discount for G35driver members and is a great guy to deal with.
2004 sedans do not have TPS as a feature.
Welcome aboard BTW

Your right Wayne...I stand corrected.
Was it only available with the Aero Pkg in Canada> I can't remember
I know it was available in the US with the "Sport Version"...
Thanks Wayne for keeping me in check
Cheers,
B.

Those belts you are talking about-they are not timing belts(G has timing chain(or chains) which is maintanance free), but accesory belts. I had mine replaced 2 weeks ago at Alta due to noise and visible wear(cracking). Car has only 65K km on it.

I bought at a volume sales 3rd party dealer to save $about $4k vs. preowned dealer car. I got the CarFax report which has dealership maintainence records but, as soon as a lease owner decides to stop paying top dollar for their oil changes it disappears (around 30k km). Nissan/Infiniti Finance does not maintain any 3rd party records even if the owner kept a detailed history when they take the car to auction.
Yeah, it makes you a bit leary about buying but, I've found this the case everywhere. So I found the nicest one I could find in my budget and took a leap of faith. Drove my old '90 Maxima past 550k km on the odometer so hope this car can last me at least a few years
By the way, Bills what are you thinking on the Black rims on TB?? Do you run a tint?

But they wanted $1800 to do brakes and scheduled maintainece.
I plan on checking out Simone's and can let you know what it comes out to.
