Sad Weekend for a holiday participant in Kincardine.

Well everyone has been on edge since a 43 year old out of towner waded out at the beach and disappeared.

This occured yesterday, just a 10 minute walk from my house late yesterday afternoon.

Apparently he waded out on the Lake Huron beach to warn some young kayakers not to venture too far since there were strong winds and some whitecaps. All the locals are aware that there can be undertows in these conditions. It is posted at the main town beach, but at our more secluded beach near my house there are no postings.
He waded out and disappeared.

The rescue vehicles, atvs, fire trucks all went speeding by our house to the scene. The Coast Guard rescue Helicopter was on the scene shortly and started combing the shoreline. It looked like it was called off at dark last night.
A small plane has been combing the shoreline since early morning.
The large Search and Rescue vehicle just went by my house a few minutes ago, returning to town.

I don't know if they found him yet.

It is so sad. We have had a few drownings over the years, but not for quite a while.

Very sad to hear. A friend and colleague just lost his father to drowning on the 21st, he was fishing in a small boat and got caught in a storm. He had been retired two days.

Wayne:

The news revealed his name: "Dave Doyle" today, and I didn't catch where he was from but he was trying to warn a few kids from here (Cambridge) of poor conditions and dangerous activities......

Poor guy.......He was just trying to help and it cost him big time......

^ That's really sad Colin....
Someone trying to help some kids, ends up making the ultimate sacrifice.
