I would also suggest that you get a winter beater!
For the cost of new winter rims and winter tires, you can probably find a decent beater that'll get you through the winter season.
I'm afraid to drive the G in the winter, not because it's rwd drive, but mainly because a lot of ppl in the city don't drive with winter tires on, aren't defensive drivers, and end up sliding right into you! I'm speaking from experience. It's the worse feeling seeing and knowing someone is going to slide into you, but you can't do anything about it, especially when you're stuck in traffic.

hopefully the winter tire law they started in Quebec will be soon in Ontario. even mine is auto, still i will never drive my g in winter. besides i live 5 min to work no need for transportation
+1 on people driving without winter tires, the other day this jeep cherokee almost hit a brand new X5 , reversing back without looking.if drivers like this is 10 percent of the drivers, i cant imagine how people go through in winter.

i drive my G in the winter, im from vancouver, we had some pretty crazy snow last year, my rule is, if you are parked in your garage and you have a steep drive way, leave it outside when there is a lot of snow, especially fresh powder, i use bridgestone blitzak tires on my oem 19" rays, make sure you wash your car as often as possible to keep the undercarriage and brakes salt free, i use the touchless car wash cause it cleans from top to bottom and underneath, never go in tip tronic mode!, give yourself lots of room at ALL times, even if there is no snow, keep an eye out for ice on the roads, don't try and run the yellow light, and lastly if there is more then 3 inches of snow, take the bus!
snap your from ontario! TAKE THE BUS!

I drive my G all year round, no garage queen here. If you get a decent set of winter tires and adjust your driving then you should be fine. The two accidents that I witnessed last year ironically involved Subaru's.
I drive on the stock 18's with Hankook Winter Icebear W300's and the car is lowered on Eibach Prokit springs.

Also, 6MT in winter was the most fun ive ever had driving, even with the close calls!

I also ran the hankook setup lowered on tein coilovers. They are a decent ice tire but did not do so well on my trips to Timmins. I recommend the Hankook W409 iPikes are they are a highly rated tire and more aggressive for snow as well as ice conditions.
