Cool

Eh guys.

I came back briefly because I was "dentally handicapped" so I'm in town now getting a tooth pulled but heading back to work tomorrow until Tuesday night. I'm hoping to head over to the shop soon after to pick up the G and I'll have more answers.

I'd like to get over there Wednesday, but wouldn't have much time to meet and greet- basically going to be in / out.

I found a guy with a 350Z that had some good results with a COBB, this not a "real time" dyno tune but the base maps COBB comes with so it looks like 18whp from the COBB stage II base map and he said it was rich so an improvment with a dyno tune would be likely.

A/F was rich with stock ECU map as well.

I went down the UTEC way and Cam tried to talk me out of it but i did not listen. It was hard to tune but he did a good job. The install is costly as well. I would stick with the COBB. I know with headers, intake, plenum spacer, test pipes, injen exhaust and a UTEC i put down on Cam's dyno 276whp.

You guys got me wanting to jump on the tuning band wagon!!
Will I need to buy the Cobb accessport if I want to get a tune done, or is that what the LSI will use to tune the car????

Side note - if i do need to buy the accessport...is it car specific or can i borrow/ rent one from whoever has one?

You buy it from LSI and they are car specific as far as I know or one person could buy one and tune 100 cars. I think you can have it custom tuned or they come with base flashes LSI is running some tests to see if the base tunes are good/safe with our gas/altitude. They should know more by the end of the week.

Uh oh... that's a scary statement... testing whether it's safe or not?! My poor G! I think I'll call it the Guinea G from now on.

Gord, you haven't heard any low order explosions over there lately have you? When you said it "sounded good" earlier, you don't happen to be a bomb disposal technician?

Kinda late himing in, but i'll give my 2 cents on the Accessport. I have one on my Sedan and had one on mu Subaru before this. Im very happy wth the supplied maps on my car. Very Noticable difference with my limited mods on my car.

Accessports are married to your ECU. You can un-marry it by changing back to your stock map. The AP stores it as soon as you install it. Once married, you can't use it on any other ecu but the one its married to.

Shops that have the Tuner package can custon tune your AP and run quickly switchable maps for various fuels, boost levels etc.

If the cost of a dyno tune is not for you, but you want a custom tune. I know a guy that has the Tuner package for Cobb AP and does a fantastic job using your wideband and datalogs. Speaking of which, I was told only 05- had wide band O2 sensors, but i can see my air fuels on my data logs all though the rev range. Mines an 04.5...

I will be having Cam tune my car eventually, but only after FI is added.

Hope this helps.
