Mod Shop... Calgary?
You are just there for a quick stop tomorrow? i will be there in the evening hopefully finishing up my engine.
Well I talked to Cam this morning he was quite excited, he said the COBB tune is good with gains of around 8ft/lbs of torque in some areas he never mentioned HP gains but I think they would be in the 5-10whp range this was on an automatic. The real good news is the custom tune he did gained about another 10ft/lbs of torque over the COBB tune so it should be around 18-20ft/lb increases over stock tune on the 6 speed cars that is good gains for an NA tune. The auto he tunes had a Stillen exhaust and a cold air intake. I asked him to make up a Dyno sheet over laying the Stock tune vs COBB vs Custom he had a couple other cars to tune today so hopefully the next few days he will have something. I asked him if he could quote a price for the custom tune as well so everyone can see if it is something they would be interested in. I think the COBB itself costs $545 from him I am not sure if thats all in or tax on top.
Impressive, I agree. Too bad my early 03 has no access port (so I have read). I guess if I want a tune, I ship my ECU off to TechnoSquare like Jeff92se did; he seems reasonably happy with his mail-order tune for 500-odd bucks.
I just looked no love for the 03 sedan?

Eh Gord... Yeah, I just did a quick hit and run there yesterday... didn't see your car there- unless it was that white one parked out front... yours looked grey in the photo so I figured that was someone else's.
As for things on my end- all the parts were put on and it REALLY tightened up the car. The ride is quite a bit stiffer- which I anticipated... and Swivel- I totally know what you're talking about with regards to the drone. Even with the HFCs over the straight pipes it's very noticeable.
Got those MD sways put on... hard to tell what they're up to with blizzaks on (not really pushing the envelope too much) but I'll have a bit more feedback once I get my stickies on.
On a humorous note, you all know I don't profess to know too much about anything... so when Cam brought me around to look at the Dyno screen and my readouts from the Guinea piG and I was like... hmmmm. He naturally explained it, probably sensing that I thought I was looking at an ECG. He said he'd post it on the website yesterday. As you'll see, and as he explained, some of the original shots didn't look so good and did cause him some concern. I'll have to take another look at them to get my head around exactly what he was saying- but the moral of the story is that when he was done, he was happy with the result. I might add that I'VE been happy with the result, too!
I did sense some disappointment at the fact that I was running an AT- I think there's still some work Cam wants to do to fine tune his new program. Might be able to "lend" your car to him for a bit of a deal on a tune- provided you're an MT. I'm not saying anything for certain, but he did say he wanted to try an MT.
I also ended up with some REALLY slick LSI decals- very subtle, yet sharp. A nice addition. Now the cops will have NO DOUBT I'm not street legal. lol!
The car is a lot "snottier" now than it used to be. There's some room for improvement on the shifting (with the AT I have a couple of debatable options)... There's PLENTY of pickup now... but it doesn't quite downshift quick enough for my liking. I've been researching throttle body upgrades... maybe even a grounding kit? I've read in different places that the latter was of negligable value... then again, I've read in MORE places that it's a good, simple, solid add on. Opinions?
As for the throttle body, I've seen a couple of different versions- one of them is a do it yourself type kit for about 200 and some bucks, and the other is the Stillen "Ship and switch" style. Again, a lot of varying feedback. Cam admitted he wasn't too sure... but was leaning towards "too much money for the gain." Anyone have any "detailed files" on whether this would be another job for a "Calgary area Mod Shop?" (IE: LSI!)
Getting the new wheels put on today too... It's just CRAPPY outside though. Not sure if it'll be photo worthy but hey- always open to some opinions on how to potentially spice things up a bit.
Frick- I thought it was +16 the other day... you guys shipped in the weather in anticipation of my arrival, no doubt. Putting the Yoko S Drives on those rims I bought from the guy in Onterrible... should be done by lunch or so if I get it over there soon. I've noticed some measurable gap with the 245s in the back in the current configuration. Cam dropped me down quite a bit with the coilovers, so I'm anticipating the need for spacers to fill it out. I might have to settle for a little gap until I can get my hands on the right spacers. I'm putting 275s on back there so I'm hoping it'll work out... We'll see, I guess!

My car is not there, just my engine when the engine is complete i tow the car in and install the engine. I mooch alot around there so i don't want my car in the way they have 2 of my engines and my tranny there so I don't want to set up a storage yard
.
Anyway as Ian mentioned Cam wants a 6speed car to do a tune on Karma was first on the list but we all know he just "hard parks"
so he passed up this offer
.
The offer is you must have a 6speed G35/350Z pluses would be if it has an exhaust, CAI and plenum spacer are perfered but not required. You must buy a COBB tuner from Lightspeed (don't quote me but about $545) and he will custom dyno tune your car at no extra charge. You may have leave you car at the shop for a few days of course with anything free its not at the top of the priority list. The reason for this is he wants to see the gains of a custom tune over the COBB tune then he will offer us a tuning package with a set price. I have been after him for a few years (starting when I was NA) to provide a tuning solution for this platform as we seem to be forgotten here in Alberta for tuning with out piggy backs or standalones. So he might have found one for us with the COBB
If you want you can pm me your email and phone number and I will see Cam tomorrow and I can pass the info on to him. Or you can email him at cam@lightspeedinnovations.com
Just to be clear I don't work for LSI I just have built a few cars there over the years and have become friends with the owner and guys that work there. I can help you get in contact with them (Cam can be near impossible to reach) but aside from that I am not good for much
and I can't make promises on there behalf.

So far... I'll see if I can figure out these attachment thingies-
So our friendly neighbourhood mod shops (staying in tune- pardon the pun- with the subject of the thread) and myself have currently completed:
Stillen HFCs / Dual catback
BC coilovers
Sexy "Lightspeed innovations" decal
19" wheels whose brand eludes me right now but look awesome in my opinion
275/245 back front S. Drive Yokos
Cobb tune
Double Din console with Pioneer Z110BT
Upgraded front end speakers (don't remember what kind lol)
MD sways and assorted camber arms / endlinks
Hi-Flow intake (stillen)
MD 5/16ths spacer
Still sitting on a hook somewhere:
K2 bumper and Impul sides- painted and waiting for fitting and mounting. (I know, I know... lol)
I'm attaching a couple pics just because... I'm not going to lie... every single step in this process save for the tires / wheels has been close to a nightmare. Everything I tried originally was either more expensive or just plain didn't work. Fortunately for folks like Cam at LSI, they help set me straight on the righteous path. I think Visions on Macleod Trail and Southland Dr. is worthy of mention here too, because a couple of their guys REALLY stepped up and helped me out.
Couple photos- nevermind the garage!

Your absolutely right about Cam being hard to reach
The best way is to probably e-mail him and wait.
Still waiting for my qoute on the work I want done <sigh>
When I'm done, it's going to make V35 and Red jealous
Hopefully the debut will be at Castrol on June 11.
