They are a veritable blue and white juggernaut! As much as I like to needle the Leaf faithful, I would actually be very happy to see them -- and all the Cdn teams -- competitive and at or near the top of their divisions.

My Shames, OTOH, have some work to do. They've looked pretty lacklustre so far, I'm hoping they will get their collective **** in gear tonight against the Oil.

Absolutely Wayne, I agree. Afterall, it's only been 17 years since since a Canadian team has won the cup.

My boy Bourquey, the pride of Lac la Biche Alberta, is tearing it up! Five goals in the last two games. I may have to ask Santa for an authentic #17 jersey. My Gary Roberts one is getting just a little behind the times.

Wow, I didn't even realize til just now that Phaneuf was hurt against the Sens. I had planned to post about it only taking 10 games for the fans to start booing him, and that every highlight I see includes an opposition goal with #3 trying (just not too hard) to get his sorry azz back in the play. Boy, did we see that a lot, and the TO media seem to be wondering: Did Calgary know something we didn't know? Could be the system and the coaching staff asking him to get into the offense more, I'll concede that.

So I won't say anything bad about Dion and wish him a speedy recovery. I don't like to see anyone get hurt.

Well, maybe Sean Avery.

Meanwhile, we try to recover from a thrashing by the Capitals, but at least we helped Ovy out of his scoring slump! Bring on the Detroit Dead Things!

Yes, those Pee Wee Oilers are really coming on strong! And despite some pretty good play (if you don't count the recent Canucks azz-whooping) my Phlegms didn't rack up too many points on their recent road swing.

^^ That's pretty standard on any Western Cdn swing. What surprised me the other night was how many Nuck sweaters were evident in the Perogy Dome.
