Need some zaino help!

Okay, so after reading the forums, I've decided to go with the zaino products. I am going to get the Z-9 (Leather Soft Spray Cleaner) and Z-10 (Leather in a Bottle) for the seats, the Z-18 Clay Bar, and Z-2 (PRO Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes).

The question is...is the Z-2 all I need or am I supposed to use something else with it?

Thanks guys.

Z2 is all you need unless you want to put more than one layer on in a 24 hour period. If you want to do 3 layers in a day you will need ZFX. If you only want to put one layer on (or don't mind waiting 24 hours), you don't need ZFX.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need to apply Z1 before Z2 OR ZFX+Z2 the first time you apply Zaino in order for it to bond properly?

I have no idea why they still sell Z1. ZFX is far superior and it significantly cuts down on drying time. With Z1 you have to apply that first and let it dry before applying Z2. With ZFX, you simply mix it with the Z2 and you can apply 3 coats of Zaino in less than 2 hours.

I used Z2 once without ZFX, and it wasn't as good, use the ZFX, it'll make the Z2 last way longer...and you only really need to do i once every 6 months, and that may even be too much...

From Zaino's information, picus is right in that you can use the Z2 without ZFX if you don't plan to put on another layer for 24 hours or more.

While it may be a mental thing, I have found that I get a somewhat better bond when I use the ZFX. This may just be because I spent $20 on a tiny bottle of blue stuff and feel that I should be getting my money's worth. The car that I use Z2 w/ ZFX just seems to maintain it's coat a bit better than those when ZFX is not used. This may just be my results though.

Yes. I use it on vinyl, rubber, plastic, and, yep, leather. In the winter, use it on your door seals for effortless opening in icy conditions.

Technically, it does bond better. You can see this by after mixing/using your little bottle of Z-sealant and ZFX, it is hard to clean (use a couple rinses of IPA).

The truth of the matter is this. A clean surface (one wiped with IPA/water 50/50) with a layer of Z2 Pro or Z5 Pro will last about 4-6 months (longer than pretty much any other sealant out there). A layer with Z2 Pro or Z5 Pro mixed with ZFX will last 6+ months. So yes, the ZFX leaves added protection and instant bonding (no 24 hour waiting period).

(Independent tests on daily driven vehicles kept outdoors 24-7)

I've seen the same results; with ZFX you tend to get a bit more durabilty. For me it isn't really an issue since I re-seal more often than every 4-6 months. On customer cars I *normally* don't bother with ZFX unless it's time for the "winter seal" or I know that I would be re-sealing their car for awhile. So in the end it's up to you.

So I am not the only one who see this - great, I figured I was losing my mind. Good point on the cleaning of the bottle.

I reapply the sealants on my own cars much more often than I need to. However, one of the first cars that I ever Zainoed got the treatment, one wash a month later, and then 5+ months of dirt. When it came back to me, it was still beading like it had just been done and the slickness was still there. I was amazed. While I do not use Zaino on my personal cars due to personal preference, I do HIGHLY respect the longevity of the product.

What color is your car? I have a DG and found that Z5 gives a better shine. Although Z5 is meant for darker cars, it can be used on any color, clear coat or not. After the Z5, give it a shot of Z8 for a really deep shine.

Just my $.02
