Picked up my G from the dealer, and found my Volks looking like this!

Hey everyone. I dropped my G off at the dealer today for an alignment and recall work. When I picked it up, I noticed this film on my wheels. I thought it to be soap residue, since they told me they washed my car. I didn't pay it much mind and just figured I'd clean it off when I got home. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get this film off. I only tried water and Dawn dish soap, before I gave a call to the dealer. They asked me to bring it in so they could look at it tomorrow, and they said they would take care of whatever the problem is. I'm just trying to figure out what they did. If it was simply soap residue, I don't see why it wouldn't be coming off. I know Volks can only be cleaned with certain products. I myself only use soap and water, and have never had them looking like this. Anyone have any ideas?

They put acid on the wheels. Sprayed it to remove brake dust and it destroyed the finish.

Yup, I've seen this happen when someone uses some kind of cleaner on them. Potentially a BIG job to re-polish/clear coat.

Lessons learned:

Never leave your car somewhere to be worked on with your expensive *** wheels on.

volk and work wheels have anodized barrels...anything too acidic will eat the finish...

This .... I have volks, and guess what they have been re polished because of this. I'm just powdercoating them to a mirror finish because of how tender the finish is.

Well, this is quite aggravating to say the least. Tomorrow should be interesting since I have to go back there and argue with them about this. I already told them on the phone that they were liable for whatever damages they caused, and she completely agreed and said they would take care of everything. However, I'm sure their position will change when I tell them the wheels need to be refinished. Thanks for the input everyone!
