How do you wash your microfiber towels?
ok i'm probably the only one worrying about this but was wondering how you guys have been washing your microfiber towels? Here's what typically happens with me. After i wash the car, the towels tend to sit for a few days until I get around to washing them. When washing them, I hand wash them with regular Tide liquid detergent and hang them dry. However, i can't seem to get them totally clean again.
I have the towels from pakshak and they're a light blue and yellow color but after a few uses they're not as bright as before with some stain spots here and there. Do you guys have the same problem? I'm sure they're clean and those stains probably won't make a difference in use but what i'm afraid of is that some dirt is still left on the towel or something that would damage the paint... the towel i used to clean the rims usually gets really dirty with brake dust and other crap so it doesn't totally come out looking the same after the wash... i'm afraid the brake dust is still on there and if i use it, will just deposit back on the paint or something like that...
any thoughts on this other that i'm obsessive compulsive lol... and i accidentally used bleach on one of my towels when pakshak says never to bleach it... not even sure what that would do, but i haven't noticed much of a difference... stains didn't come off either...

You are just seeing a stain from the dirt on the towels, the bad stuff should wash out just fine, the brake dust does leave a stain. My car wash towels have always gotten stains like that. LOL, I have been using Woolite to wash my microfiber towels, also make sure you don't have any of those dryer sheets in with the microfiber, they really cling to the microfiber!

use terry towels for rims, dont need microfiber for that.. wash them in the washing machine and i hang dry them. after about 3 washes i throw them away.. im using the ones from costco.. they dont cost much anyways and they arnt as soft after a while
i'll use them to wash my car twice.. then it turns into a window washing and interior cleaning towel.. then i'll use it to clean the kitchen floor or something lol

You can throw them in the dryer on delicate (low) as long as you don't use any fabric softener.
The bottom line with car/towel care is to aviod letting any rocks/dirt come between the towels and your paint. Some of the stuff we do borders on being overly paranoid. Toss your stuff in the wash and/or dryer and keep them away from the ground. Shake them before you use them and you'll be good to go.

I pop em in the washing machine with warm wash & cold rinse using a non bleach liquid detergent. Then it's off the the dryer with the setting on lowest heat....that usually gets it pretty dry, but still a hint of dampness, then I just lay them out to completely dry. I find that putting it in the dryer keeps them more fluffy then if you just air dry it. Don't use high heat though you'll ruin them. One last tip, only wash microfiber by themselves, don't mix with regular stuff, it will pick up a boatload of lint.
