So this should help me stop

Akebono BBK from a g37 sport.

got everything in last night and started working on it today.

I plan on powdercoating it but I have to put it on and try it out for a bit first and I'm not having silver calipers behind my bronze wheels...

These rotors are massive... and heavy. I hope it doesn't feel too slow after this, at least it should stop like a beast

for your reference the fronts are 14" rotors the rear are 13.8"

pics:

took everything apart, started cleaning

dirty rotors

left rear freshly painted, right rear painted and brake area stripped... two fronts untouched

caliper sanded down

painted calipers with duplicolor ceramic caliper paint, took a chance and went red.

looks good to me!

now I just need the akebono vinyls.

excuse the crappy phone camera.
fresh from the powdercoater, it looks more orange in this picture for some reason. its actually a red thats pretty dang close to my car color.

Did you get all four corners or just the fronts? i noticed 4 rotors but only front calipers.
nevermind. I see all four calipers. You just redid the rears. gonna look proper behind ur wheels.

thanks guys, yeah I got a feeling all this paint is gonna just bake off at the track. Its good for 500 degrees but we'll see. I talked to a couple powdercoaters and they said there are a only a few (no glossy) colors available that will hold up to track use.

r1, sorry you gotta remove that timing cover again. I feel your pain.

ugh... just wasted 5 hours of my life. I put the brakes on and forgot to screw in the bleeder valves all the way so when I went to pressurize the speedbleeder brake fluid ran down my freshly painted calipers and ruined the paint.

I'm so mad, so sore, and so defeated right now. I just want to sell my car and lay in bed for a year.

I probably should have just been patient and powdercoated them from the start.

So sad to hear that. They did look good. Someone on the G37 forum had made akebono stickers for the painted calipers. I remember seeing it awhile back. Here is a link for someone that already made akebono stickers or you could have them made yourself. http://hardtuned.bigcartel.com/produ...er-kit-for-v36

Just did the exact same thing, swapped out my brakes for the Akebono's since my car came with the non-sport brakes.. I noticed better stopping immediately
