The Great Early-2011 Plastidip Fiasco

So this is being thrown around all over the forums and fb among the g35 people. Why are there so many mentions of plasti-dip all of the sudden? Are there threads I am missin? if so, please fill me in.

Last summer some guys on here noticed that the VW guys were plastidipping everything on their cars and started plastidipping their grills as an alternative to painting. Now it's completely out of hand. That's basically it.

I just plasti-dipped my lunch... can't get enough of this stuff!!!


j/k - i think the fact that it gives average people the ability to feel like professional painters without fear of screwing stuff up has fueled its popularity

if I see anyone local plasti-dipping their parts im going to go peel it off right in front of them.

I'm gonna plastidip my grill and wheels now, and since I'm at it, I'll do my roof as well. And I'm wondering if it'll work inside the engine bay....

what's wrong with using it on your emblems? using it on everything else though=gehy+ugly

yea what is the temp max rating on plastidip would it even survive a texas summer?

Your car would burst into flames...but then you could just plastidip it agian. Then if you spray it enough around your rims, Voila! new tires.

i agree, i would do it on emblems and small parts that arent exposed to engine or brake heat levels. otherwise, i assume it is stupid.

regardless, i know a lotta people on here that have taken a lot of shortcuts, even me. haha
