Any DFW G35 owner's with the Borla system?

I'm thinking about buying one for my birthday in about a week, but I was hoping to hear one in person first. Any of you guys have a borla on your G? Any complaints with it?

Thanks guys

I just put the Borla on. Some people have problems with the H-pipe having a minor leak, but this can be easily welded. If your gaskets are old (the ones connecting to the cats), they may have a leak as well.

You can read about some of the problems at https://g35driver.com/forums/intake-exhaust/51527-infamous-borla-rattle.html

Some folks have recommended the Greddy EVO2, if you can spare another $400. Otherwise, the Borla system is great, once you get the leaks out.

The only other complaint I have (we'll actually the girlfriend) is at around 40 mph there is a droning, but I'll be dynamating the trunk this weekend to alleviate that.

Droning huh, how bad is it? When I bought my SS back in 2000 it had some loud, aweful exhaust on it that droned like mad while cruising on the highway. I switched it out to the Borla and it was a lot better. Maybe it just sounded better and I didn't care about the droning... I just don't want a loud droning...

I was also very interested in the Nismo system, but I've read that you can't get the tips to be in the proper location without cutting them off and welding an extension on to get them to reach the rear bumper? I don't really want to do that if that's right. From the sound clips I've heard of it, I think it might have been my favorite too...

The droning is only around 30-40MPH. At highway speeds there is no droning (at least the same level as stock). I had a Borla on my old 2002 Trans Am. I think it was adjustable, and I had the "medium" plate on. The droning on the G35 system is a lot less than the Trans Am. I then switched to a Corsa exhaust and the sound was great for that car, but that's another story.

So basically local driving I have some droning, but at highway speeds its gone. Since you have a 6MT, you may keep the revs higher during local driving anyway.

You would only have to modify the Nismo exhaust if you retrofit the 350Z application. If you buy the Skyline application from Japan, then everything will line up just fine.

I would first try www.japanparts.com. It's quite a bit more than the 350Z application around ~$1700.

That's about twice what I'd pay for it! So the nismo is officially out...

Do yourself a favor and look at the Invidia G200 dual system. I love mine. It's Polished stainless throughout with titanium tips. I added an "H" Pipe to mine, which improved the sound and smoothness of the idle. Anyway, workmanship is excellent, all attachments are by flanges with bolts, not by clamps. It adds some power and sounds great with my Crawford Cats.
