Congrats. I know my car will never trap 105mph.

Thanks, but like you, I just had to do a motor transplant (long block) and it was an "out of pocket" expense
It was using over 2 quarts of oil between oil changes and then it just threw a rod or spun a bearing on the bottom end. Unfortunately for me, I change my own oil and lost my reciepts from where I bought my cases of oil. Sucks to be me!
$9,800 later....
I am back in business!
However, now my car seems a bit lazy from 4,000-5,500 rpm or so. My motor only has 500 miles on it, but it seems much more responsive on the bottom and pulls HARD after 5,500 rpm...
I dyno'd @ 21st Century Muscle Cars in Carrollton, Texas last spring (old motor and with close to red line pinging problems)... result was on 93 octane: 262hp but my torque was a paltry 221ftlbs (SAE corrected)...
Here's where things got interesting....
I added a few gallons of racing fuel, drove the car 20 miles hard and came in and did another pull on the dyno... result: 277hp & 242 pft (SAE corrected). No more pinging on the dyno. Torque was ALOT higher and could be felt in the seat of the pants on my pre dyno drive. I have a feeling the knock sensor was making the computer retard the timing quite a bit.
The weird thing about my car, is that the horsepower curve never fell off up to red line (on both of the runs). It just kept climbing until it hit fuel cut off... A/F was pretty good but was just a hair lean (13.2-13.7) for the last couple hundred rpm (could be adding to the pinging problem). I need a tune for sure.
Oh, and by the way, the 3.917 gears were worth a solid 2 mph in the traps (and almost half a second reduction average in 1/4 mile times). I've run a bunch of 13.50's @ over 105 mph with so so 60ft times. The gears make traction a problem in 1st and 2nd gears (especially when shifting 1-2) on the 6MT. The Kumho SPT275/30-19s are VERY VERY sticky (especially when new), and VERY wide for a 275. They are the widest 275 width tire I have ever seen. They were half an inch WIDER than the DZ101 275/30-19s I had on there before. They made a huge difference in launch. I have no doubts I could run high 12's with some traction (ie:drag radials) and a low 60ft time.
Like yourself, I am hoping the new motor will have the same umph of my old one... driveability sure seems improved, which makes me think torque may be slightly higher. I will re dyno after I get around 3,000 miles on the new motor. I will also be hitting Texas Motorplex or Alamo Speedway sometime after that to get a few new runs in...
