Oh no doubt. I could believe that with a stock G35, i am aiming for 2.0s. Now a 350z, those weigh how much, 300lbs lighter?

So my goal is to hit 2.0.

350z base weighs close to 3100lb and the fully loaded one comes close to the 03-04s sedan's weight which is roughly 3390lb.
Ur car is listed close to 3460lb I think.

Hmmmm... Cool. Puts things in prospective. I also plan to weigh the car when i go the track next time. I'll see how much she weighs with my weight reduction.

Just rear trunk crap all out, and possibly the back seats.

This probably won't happen until probably late september though.

Too friggin' hot here in VA lol.

Sounds like you have some experience; and there's no doubt that some people can get good launches out of these cars. But I'll tell you something: I've seen all of maybe 5 people ever claim to get sub 2.1 sixties in these cars on street tires.

And you really can't compare launching this car to launching a Z. Yeah, Veetec is a helluva driver and can cut some great launches. But not only is the z considerably lighter, it's also got an 8 inch shorter wheelbase. That really helps with the weight transfer to the rear.

And those 19s are forged lol its gonna take alot more than some low tire pressure to hurt them!
I'm not worried so much about damaging the wheels as I am about cupping the tires and getting LESS traction off the line. On a tire with more sidewall, I always air down - but I'm not going to do that with these. There is virtually no sidewall as it is, so I personally don't think there will be enough cushion to grip better by lowering the tire pressure on these. If I had 17s I would, maybe even with 18s, but not on these.

The car had more traction in it. I don't have many passes in it, I'm waiting till the fall to go again since I'm not going to break any records in this heat and humidity. I'm pretty happy with the performance of the car. Take a look at the stock VQ35DE times list as well as the NA/bolt-on list. My STOCK times would fall 10th or 11th on that list, so I think I am doing ok.

From the dyno you have posted it looks like your air fuel ratio is very lean. For a normally aspirated engine most power is made at 12.8-13.1 air fuel. I would suggest you richen it up as most dynos do not put the same load on the car as driven down the road.

It doesn't hurt that veetec also runs are some pretty quick tracks in Alabama and Georgia. I know he's significantly slower when running at Commerce in ATL. He is a good driver, but much of the reason his cars run so quick is because of the tracks he's racing on. The same thing goes for most any late model car that posts exceptional times.

I know the track in my area is very well prepped(MIR one of the best in the country). And when its cold i plan to maximize the conditions. I will probably run at an even also where they will prep it very well!

I recommend you try a variety of different launches. From my experience, the sweet spot is between 2500 to 3500 on the stock tires. Depending at what RPM you launch, you will also have to try different ways of playing with the clutch during the launch.

A 5000K launch would be ideal only if traction wasn't an issue. Launching at maximum torque is the best way of launching if you had the right kind of tires.

.
I pulled my best 1/4 and 60' time (14.16 @ 99.83 with a 2.148 60') launching at 4600 rpm (my sweet spot) via GTech. No tire screeching/wheel hop and feathering the clutch and/with throttle control almost all through first. Mods were AAM SRI and possbily MREV2/Spacer (cant remember). Conditions were 35% tread left on OEM tires, a passenger, half a tank of gas, and an open back road on a cool late september/october night.

I know the GTech is just a device as those times are not my real times but, FWIW, I tested launching at other RPM's and consistantly got worst times launching anything lower than 4500 RPM.

I think its more about clutch feathering/thorttle control and the drivers skill than a general RPM that people should launch at. I plan on going to the track for the first time this summer but with my OC issue I was scared. Now that I have a VQ longblock V2 im still in my break in period and have another 700 miles to go until I hit the track.

I have a basically stock G35 sedan AT that i took to firebird raceway last night in arizona and my best time was a 15.6 60' 2.413... Let's just say i wasn't happy at all. I also have 20" rims and a really heavy 12" sub that i was running with. So if anything I added weight i have 275/30/20 in the rear and 245/35/20 in the front.. I used the tiptronic or whatever it's called the whole time and i was only able to get 15.6 at 91 mph. Is it me or the track or conditions!!!
