An 05+ Mustang GT, auto or 5MT is a legit 13.6-13.8@101-102mph car. That is way more than a typical 05-07 coupe can handle. Most coupes are lucky to see 14.2-14.3. From a roll, it might be a little closer, but it's still not going to be an even race. Strap slicks to the GT and it has more than enough torque to plant that super beefy live axle hard and run a 13.1-13.2@102mph. You guys are greatly underestimating these cars. A simple tuner, intake, and mufflers and it's an easy 13.3-13.4 car on street rubber and high 12s on slicks.

hey, started out w/pretty much the slowest stock G there is(03 Sedan 5AT) BUT after full bolt-on's & reflash+tune i've been able to burn the new GT's pretty easily. So, if you had the same parts on a car that's more powerful to begin with, then you should be fine... if he's stock. I've never had a "ligit" drag BUT my BroInLaw has an 07' GT MT and we've... so, yeah. 'stangs are in no means slow(slowish MT, as far as shifts go), so you'll need ur a-game to make up for the difference in displacement.

I have a buddy with a 2007 GT w/ Steeda exhaust and Diablo Tune. We raced multiple times with my 2005 6MT (I am running 275's in the rear).

Bottom line:

G35 with perfect launch & Mustang w/ perfect launch = Mustang wins by about a 1/2 car at 80 mph.

But if that Mustangs screws up the launch, even a little, the G35 wins.

HAHA, Yea you guy's are Underetimating the New GT's! Or Even Older one for that matter, I Have a 90 5.0 GT. When my car was basically Stock, With only Rear end Gears and a Full Exhaust and a very Minor Tune, At the Track with Slicks I could get a 13.5-13.6's consistently, Now it's Blown And Modded, But thats a diffrent Ball Game, and the New Ones are even more Modder Freindly!! With just some Bolt on's like Exhaust, Intakes, and Rear End Gears, it will run Mid to low 13's easily! That Stang will Kill Stock or Slightly Modded G's! But if you are Racing a Stock New GT. You may have a Chance, It's all depends on the Driver. A Guy can have all the HP's in the world, but if he Can't drive it right, any good driver with a slower car can Win! But good Luck BRO!

Yeah, people on this forum have a tendency to heavily overestimate our cars. We're not slow, but we're by no means fast.

From my guestimates:
Mustangs run 13.5-14.1
G35's run 14.2-14.7

I just read a thread from one of our members saying he had to push his car to the starting line to break in the 14's....that's disturbing considering what our car is supposed to be. lol.

Not to mention modifying a rustang makes them fast...fast. We need FI just to get a decent way into the 13's. Stock for stock it may be a driver's race, with the odds heavily in the mustang's favor. Modified, we're completely outclassed.

Oh, btw. On the streets, you may be able to take him. It's much easier to launch a G than a mustang. They have traction issues that we don't have. Their advantage is taken away without good tires and track prep.
