The Speed Ventures event at Autoclub speedway was very cool! Darren (southbayg35Sedan) took a quick vid - just around the big bank NASCAR turn - none of the road course stuff... I'll try to post the clip when I have some time to download it and edit out the non-track stuff.

Getting on a road course is a WHOLE other animal... and the track they set up at this event is quite unique (to me)... It was mostly a learning experience (lots to learn for sure)... and all the "spirited driving" techniques go out the window when you realize what is needed for a real road course... since I wasn’t real settled in I only took it to 120 around the big bank... the car did pretty good, but hard core brakes are a must for an event like this (which I don’t have)... the big "bling" stuff isn’t necessary, but better then Hawk HPS pads are for sure!

I'll probably post a thread about the experience - I highly recommend such a thing for anyone wanting to really see what their car will do (and realize how deficient some things are, and how out of touch with your car you might be)... it's quite intriguing. I’ve always said drag racing is more about the car (and it is)… but road racing is TOTALLY driver! So much more challenging and all the HP in the world doent really matter sometimes! My instructor has a 350Z – engine is stock, just upgraded brakes (pads and fluids only), suspension and tires (tires and brakes are HUGE factors) – wit a bone stock engine he was hauling @ss!!!! He really knows how to push that thing around the track! (I’d beat him in a straight line though )

cool!! I had taken a ride with Eagle1 around the Roval a couple of years ago. I think he got up to 140-150 on the straight and around the big bank and then hit the brakes last minute for that left after the bank. He had AP Racing brakes glad I had on a racing harness.
