Auto vs Manual 1/8 Mile Video (HD)

Fellow Driver member Shrummi and I went to the 1/8 mile drags at qualcomm stadium. Lots of fun, ****ty track with no track prep.

My mods are Z-Tube and X02. Auto has intake , exhaust, spacer.

Camera car is Auto. IP Coupe is 6MT (me).

This is my new channel. Please subscribe. I have many more vids to upload.

dont do the "manual mode" in an automatic. ive played with it a few times at my 1/4 mile track and all of my times were slower when i used manual mode then when i left it in drive.

Also, work on your launch. It didnt sound like you rev'd it up much. You should hold the brake down with one foot and rev it to about 3500~ depending on how meaty your tires are.

also, what were time times?

No no no always race in manual mode. The car does not go all the way to redline when you leave it in drive. When I leave my car in drive its 4 tenths slower every single time. Ive done it back to back many many times. I think he lost because of his launch. Also the stock torque convertor only goes up to 2200 so he cant rev it up to 3500 when he lauches unless he has an aftermarket one. What were the 60 foots on that run?

you sure about that one? With VDC off, i can hold the brake and rev to redline no problem....

and yeah it doesnt go to redline, but it shifts RIGHT before redline...

Just for the record, I don't want this to start into a Auto vs Manual war. We just went out to have a good time. I think neither of us could care less which is faster.

We met our goal in having fun and just wanted to share a video.

you've never lost to a 6mt with equal mods? then it is a drivers problem. of course the 6mt is going to be faster unless its a poor driver. i dont even see how you can possibly believe that he shouldn't lose to a 6mt. the only thing that he really had going for him was a spacer.

6mt FTW

edit: tight video btw, i like the HD
and +1 for the times

all bias's aside. the 6mt with a good driver should walk a 5AT any day of the week. the 5AT would pull harder in first and second but would lose in 3rd because 3rd is the strongest gear for the 6mt. Ive done plenty of runs with my 5AT vs 6MT and its really a drivers race (for the 6mt ppl of course).

The rear-wheel drive G35 coupe is powered by an advanced, 280-horsepower* V6 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and Downshift Rev Matching. The G35 coupe is also available with 6-speed manual transmission delivering 298 horsepower.

im telling you, theres no way an automatic should beat a manual with a good driver and comparable mods.
