Short Shifter Help

I installed a Nismo short shifter today and ran into a problem. Everything bolted up fine, but when I put it in gear the shifter moves around as if it's still in neutral! At first I thought I broke something but when I reinstalled the orginal shifter all was good again. Anyone have any ideas on what I did wrong or advice on what to do to resolve this issue. TIA all.

not sure do you have to switch the bushing from the stock one to the nismo

Yeah those were the instructions I followed for the install. I did everything exactly how it was written up.

huh try measuring the stock on compared to the nismo and see if the bottom where the bolt goes through is the same

Haha, well if I can get it to work without being so loose I'll let you know. As far as I can tell though from the very short time I had it in the throws are a LOT shorter.

Yeah I checked it to make sure. Since the height is adjustable I thought this might be the reason why it was off, but even when I made the shifter the exact same length as the stock one it still was loose (this was the third time I re-installed it)

I believe that is normal. You will have the car in gear and the shifter still moves a little bit right? My RE does the same thing.

Well a "little bit" i could live with, but it was no different than having it in neutral. It had the same amount of play regardless of whether it was in gear or not.
