First time ever driving on a after market clutch/flywheel. is this normal???

I just got my car back from dealership and my new engine installed and while they did that i had them swap out my clutch for Exedy clutch and ACT flywheel.

well my question (concern) is...

is the pedal suppose to be just about all the way on the floor?

it engages with just under an inch from the floor but then there is like 2-3 inches where i can pull the pedal to the top but it is dead free air.

so, is the clutch suppose to be on the floor and should i have losdt about 2-3 inches of pedal play.

if i am not making any sence just think that from stock the pedal at the top to the pedal on the floor is about 5 inches and now the top 3 inches are longer useable the pedal sits at the 4th inch and seems to only go about 1 inch to the floor.

i did a search but didnt find what i was looking for...

thanks!!!!!!!!

okay, after 50 miles the pedal already feels a little better but i have another question about the sound.

everyone said the sound from the flywheel was a "chatter" which i believe i here but the other sound is what concerns me.

it sounds like a squeel... almost like a slipping belt but the sound is right under my ***, kinda like an exhaust leak or something and even when i turn the car off you could almost her the squeel like slowdown to WEEEEeeee(silence) almost like the rpms effect it but they dont??

you arent being very descriptive thats why people arent commenting, if you have a leak spray soap water on the plenum and look for bubbles

well, the clutch problem may be air in the clutch line. does it make any other sort of noises or chatter? hopefully they didn't install the clutch plate backwards (which would obviously require them to drop the tranny again). i don't even know if it's possible to drive it with it backwards, but i know people have made the mistake of incorrectly installing it.

if you're engine isn't dying on you, then i don't think it's a vacuum leak, but you may want to check for the sound all over the place. that is definitely not normal.

okay, i just wanted to confirm the high pitched SQUEAL is not the clutch...

it is definitly coming from just under the plenium or behind it or something.

even when i turn off the car it makes like a high pitch "winding down" sound but it even reacts to the acceleration. it doesnt get louder just kinda reacts to it. if the high pitch starts to tone down i just give a little gas and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

it is back to the squeal...

oh and i hear the chatter now. almost feels like im boooging and its gonna stall.....

;-)

i hate to give you a cop out answer like "take it back to the dealer," but take it back to the dealer! when i installed my plenum, i left one bracket on there that wasn't supposed to be there, the plenum didn't seat properly, and i had the whine/squeel, but then my engine died. definitely check around for any vacuum leaks.

If they installed the plenum gasket wrong you will most definitely have a squealing sound. As for the stalling, that's not normal. The chatter is however... Get that $hit checked out.

okay they fixed the car... the squeek is gone but the chatter is alive and well... oh boy is it loud!

one more question.

when i hit the 4000 RPM area the sound from the engine/clutch/exhaust is very deep. is that normal? is that from the new clutch??

thanks!!
