I say average for me anyway 8-12hp. Has the same effect as putting on light weight wheels or anything that reduces rotational weight.

I don't think DSS makes them for Z1, before I bought mine from Z1 I wanted one from DSS. I was told to take measuements since I had a 5AT.

Didn't want to risk being off so I bought one from Z1 a week later.

The questions that need to be answered if possible.

What is the critical speed and rpm of the AL shaft. Here is a chart I found on critical speeds.

http://www.pstds.com/driveshaft_crit...peed_chart.htm

Probably a speed most will never reach, but the RPM some can reach if it's in the mid-upper 7k range depending on how long the shaft is. The 5at shaft is a little shorter than the 6mt.

I've taken mine to 130mph, 7300rpm and over 50 dyno and track runs no issues so far.

Bottom line is; in theory there is a chance - in reality its simply a non-issue (for the DS and car we are discussing).
You're right but it still doesn't negate a ds loop if a track's rules require one, tech for street legal might not check but tech for bracket racing likely will.

Yeah, that must be it. Frivolous speculation. Z1 said the shafts were no longer in stock and didn't know if/when they would get more about a week ago. So why advertise a product they no longer carry?

If you really want a lightened driveshaft get one of these cf ones.

I don't know about Fontana - but LACR never did (even for bracket racing)... Irwindale used to have every rust bucket you could imagine (not uncommon to have parts flying off cars) and they didnt even look under car...

Maybe it's different here.

I think tech would assume a newer car would have a DS loop unless you look like a all out drag car that has the power to snap one.

Based on Z1's last two posts in their vendor thread for the driveshaft, it seems that they're just too busy to update the thread, so they continue to advertise it. The product isn't even listed on their retail website.
