Here is my review of the Z1 DS.

Car rides smoother

Shifts harder at WOT

Feel more lowend torque (shown on dyno sheet)

Well I have the DS installed for over a week and in that last week

16 dyno pulls (tuning)

over 1k miles

over 20 track runs

After all this abuse still no vibrations or anything abnormal from the DS.

Here is my track times before the DS my 60ft times were consistent 2.1-2.05 after DS 2.05-1.9 I was on street tires. I haven't tried my DR's yet.

White is before the DS ( with a tune for my new headers from RT) yellow is after the DS. Notice the ET is almost the same for both.

Last night I didn't have one 60ft over 2.1. I was even asked if I was boosted by a guy in a modded MS3 due to being alot faster than the 350z's running. I raced a modded rev-up on DRs and out 60 footed him. I ran 13.4 to his 14.6.

good review DS! the 60' improvements alone are worth the swap. you gain a few tenths there and its an even bigger difference up top (as you know). this is also a great mod bc it benefits boosted, nitrous and na cars alike. i think im gonna pick one of these up this month too. what was the lead time?

By the time u lw fw, lw clutch, Cf DS, u have cut 25/30lbs off the motor. Lw wheels, exhaust and uve got a beast.

Like I posted many post back...

Quote buddy 2005 jwt TT 700bb, after CF Drive Shaft

Low boost became high boost
High boost became OMG
Best mod ever, even better than my turbo upgrade

Ordered on Tuesday received and installed that Friday of the same week so 3 days if they have them in stock.

Trying the nitrous today at the track hopefully I get a 11sec slip. I will be on DRs this time not street tires. I will get video.

My review of Z1's DS (MT):

Blue (before) = 269.6HP
Red (after) = 282.2HP

Blue is with stock DS and an r2c intake

took the car down, installed z1 DS and stock rev up airbox (someone at hill's took at interest in the r2c so I gave him a good price on it). strapped car back down and Frank did a quick touch-up tune

red is with z1 DS and my stock rev up airbox

Temps. about 68-70F

Impressions:

-Certainly feels lighter overall, can't really describe it but the difference is noticeable when punching it
-Acceleration is smooth
-Feels like it climbs through the RPM's quicker
-Definitely a slight "hollow-ey" noise in 1st gear with windows down and like others, it doesn't bother me at all
-Feels "torquier" down low
-Found an open stretch on I-95 so I took it up to 120mph with the intentions of noting any vibrations and felt none. Feels just as smooth as it did before install

Not much else to say really. Would I get it again? Yes, it's priced competitively against the CF version (which I nearly pulled the trigger on) and the difference is something I can feel with the lighter DS. It's kinda like the first time you took your car out after slapping on sway bars...if that makes any sense..

Next on the list is a lighter clutch/flywheel and changing my final drive, then the car will be at the body shop for my exterior mods.

Cheers.

Man, the more I see of these Z1 DS's, the more I think I'm going to have to have Frank install one for me.

There is a GB in the NGC forum. Install w/before and after dyno for $650 from Frank.

Not to sound like an @ss but all these dynos posted included other mods done at the same time, in which case they can't be used accurately.

^^ true story. especially the one with swapping back to the stock intake housing....its been proven that the oem intake box is the best for withstanding heatsoak. wish the dyno would have been done without taking the r2c intake off to see the actual gain from the driveshaft

none the less it is a good writeup and the gains are there jus how much of that gain belongs to the driveshaft alone

Thanks, yeah, I saw that earlier. Now I need to see if I'm going to be around later in June to get that done.
